Mamelodi Sundowns have had yet another to their fixtures with the conclusion of the DStv Premiership still hanging.

Another week and yet another fixture change for Mamelodi Sundowns.

This is the chorus that Sundowns are growing used to singing with each passing week that has created tense moments for the PSL.

As it stands, the conclusion of this season’s DStv Premiership season is hanging in suspension due to Sundowns’ CAF Champions League commitments.

While the wait continues in seeking to find solutions, The Brazilians have been thrown another change to their league fixtures.

Recent league games against Richards Bay FC and Cape Town Spurs have had dates moved just like this evening’s match away at Moroka Swallows.

Beyond that, Sundowns will again have their next match against Sekhukhune after today’s trip to Dobsonville Stadium also moved.

Instead of being played on the original date of April 27, Rulani Mokwena will now have to squeeze that match against Babina Noko on April 23.

This means Sundowns will have a midweek match between the two legs of their CAF Champions League semi-final against Esperance.

It was the same in the quarterfinals when they became the only club playing of all that reached the last eight that had to play another match between the two legs.

Straight after playing Swallows tonight, Sundowns travel to Tunis for first leg of their CAF Champions League contest against Esperance on Saturday night (21h00) at the Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi.

Sundowns will then play Sekhukhune upon their return from North Africa, after which they will prepare for the Champions League second leg likely to be played on Friday (April 26).

From there, they will play Kaizer Chiefs on April 30, before the back-to-back games against Royal AM on May 7 and May 11.

Should Sundowns go through to the Champions League final, CAF has set aside May 18 and May 25 for the decider, which are dates that the PSL had planned to play the last two rounds of the league fixtures on with all 16 teams playing on the same day and same kick-off times.

This will leave Sundowns’ matches against Stellenbosch FC, Cape Town City, Golden Arrows and TS Galaxy (home and away) without confirmed dates.

June 1 is set aside for the Nedbank Cup final, which might also involve Sundowns, who are through to the semi-finals to be played on the weekend of May 4-5.

Sundowns must play 10 league games, two legs of the Champions League semis (plus the possibility of another two matches if they reach the decider), Nedbank Cup semis (plus one match if they get to the final).

The best-case scenario for the PSL will be Sundowns getting stuck in the Champions League semis, which will leave May 18 and May 25 unaffected and then give them a chance to squeeze in three games.
