Mamelodi Sundowns could be in for another advantage of loaned out players barred against them in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals against University of Pretoria.

The Brazilians a week ago maintained their unbeaten run in the DStv Premiership after a 1-1 draw against SuperSport United, who could not use number one goalkeeper Ricardo Goss and striker Etiosa Ighodaro due to a loan agreement that bars them from playing against their parent club (even though Ighodaro was suspended for the clash).

The Tshwane giants could have the same privilege when they face Motsepe Foundation Championship side AmaTuks in the quarter-finals of the Nedbank Cup following a draw which was made on Monday evening.

Sundowns have Thabang Sibanyoni and Promise Mkhuma at the University outfit, who are unlikely to face their parent club.

Not having Sibanyoni, who snatched a late winner for Tlisane Motaung's charges in a 2-1 win over Moroka Swallows in the round of 16 would particularly be a big blow for AmaTuks.

Sibanyoni has scored seven goals in all competitions for AmaTuks this season in their bid to gain promotion to the DStv Premiership.

Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena says he's happy with the draw after they come up against the third National First Division side in the tournament after they also eliminated NB La Masia and Maritzburg United.

"We are pleasantly happy with that draw because it minimizes a lot of traveling. For them to be still in the competition as one of the only lower-ranked teams already speaks of their quality, Mokwena said on SuperSport TV.

"I had an opportunity to watch their game against Moroka Swallows and they were very competitive. They have some good players and some come from our youth structures and so we have a lot of preparation to do. We saw against Maritzburg United how difficult it is to play the NFD sides," he added.

Motaung, on the other hand, relishes the opportunity to come up against "one of the best teams on the continent".

"This is a difficult encounter against one of the best teams on the continent and for us, the most important thing is to give credit to the players," Motaung said on SuperSport TV.

"More than anything, there is no pressure on the boys, they need to go out and enjoy and represent the institution with distinction," he added.
