Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has heaped praised on defender Edmilson Dove for the centre-back's mammoth performance against Orlando Pirates.

Chiefs collected a record fifth consecutive victory over of rivals Pirates on Saturday at FNB Stadium, thanks to an own goal from Olisa Ndah.

Dove, who walked away with a Man of the Match award was crucial in the goal as it was his diagonal long-ball from behind the half-way line that caused havoc inside the Bucs' box leading to the goal.

The 28-year-old has been instrumental for Chiefs this season, he has missed just game to sickness since his arrival - a game Amakhosi lost 3-2 to Golden Arrows.

"Yes we are facing challenges, but we can't come here and complain that: 'last week I missed Dove'. I believe whoever was given the opportunity could have done better," Zwane said.

"But you can and must have seen the difference of managing the distances between this game [derby] and last week's game [Arrows]. So, sometimes you can take it for granted but just one player makes a huge difference.

"How many channels did Orlando Pirates create? or how many times did they go behind us? but Last week [against Arrows] we had a bit of a challenge."

Zwane was highlighting the significance of having his regulars available. Chiefs have been ploughed by injuries this season. Currently, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Khama Billiat, Reeve Frosler are just some of the names out of action due to injuries.

"But I understand, because some of the players [we have played recently] have not been playing from some time. It's normal, they need to gain confidence and given also a fair chance to play," added Zwane.

"Unfortunately at the moment, we're trying to get the team going. we need some chemistry, we need some tactical understanding  to improve so we'll focus more on grinding the results.

The win leaves Chiefs level on points with both the Buccaneers and upcoming opponents Richards Bay.
