Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune says All Stars showed "who the real champions are" after defeating Stellenbosch FC on Saturday.

Chiefs players were heavily involved in the win for All Stars, as their DStv Diski Challenge player Mfundo Vilakazi opened the scoring and Ashley Du Preez doubled their lead early in the game.

Khune could not keep a clean-sheet after Stellies pulled a goal back in the dying minutes through Mervin Boji.

However, the veteran shot-stopper made a number of crucial saves that saw him voted as Man of the Match and was awarded a R100 000 prize money.

"We wanted it so badly, we had a few days to prepare for this cup and obviously we're facing the champions of 2023 and we gave them the respect they deserve, we gave them a good run for their money. And we showed today who the real champions are, Black Label All Stars," Khune said on SuperSport TV.

"This game was all about enjoying ourselves and giving back to these lovely people who have come in numbers to support us and those ones at home, who have voted to see each and every player representing the All Stars team.

"And I'm happy that they came here, they enjoyed a good brand of football and I'm proud again that all the players gave it their all, they gave the fans a good show. They won't regret having spent their money to come and watch us," he said.

"I think they will take these memories forever and a great experience again for the DDC players rubbing shoulders with the experienced players of the PSL. I'm happy with the team, I'm happy with everyone that has taken part in this All Stars team and thank you to our soccer loving fans," he added.
