With there being question marks on whether Mfundo Vilakazi is ready for Kaizer Chiefs first team, Amakhosi have revealed Vilakazi's next assignment and addressed disciplinary issues that arose late in 2023.
Vilakazi received mass appeal in the Carling Black Label Cup tournament after he scored a memorable free-kick for All Stars XI in their 2-1 win over Stellenbosch.
The 18-year-old was good on the eye as well, as he showed his flamboyance and confidence on the ball and has been tipped to become a big star for Chiefs senior team by legends such as Doctor Khumalo.
The Glamour Boys are evidently aware of his rising status, as Vilakazi is likely to be the centre of attraction when Chiefs resume their DStv Diski Challenge on Saturday against Chippa United at Tsakane Stadium.

"One particular drawcard in the Amakhosi ranks will be the likely appearance of Mfundo Vilakazi, the 18-year-old starlet who made an impressive bow at senior level for the Carling All-Stars, and even scoring a goal against Stellenbosch FC in front of thousands of fans, after being voted into the team by public demand," the club said on their official website.
"Obrigado, as he is affectionately known, will be hoping to use the invaluable experience he gained from the nationally broadcast event to help Chiefs Reserves in their push for glory in 2024."
Chiefs started their 2023/24 Diski Challenge campaign on fire, with suggestions that they could challenge for the title for the first time.
However, the Glamour Boys were seemingly disturbed by disciplinary issues, as a number of players were reportedly not happy with the arrangement of becoming ball retrievers for the first team and some parted ways with the club.

Coach Vela Khumalo, whose charges ended 2023 lying fifth on the table, seven points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, also revealed that they have dealt with the matter and are ready to restart with a spirit of togetherness.
"We implemented some disciplinary measures regarding the situation but now we are over that. It is part of the boys’ learning curve," Khumalo said.
"Everything is okay now, we are all together, focused on the football and having a good second half of the season," he added.
