Mamelodi Sundowns legend Lovers Mohlala predicts an early exit for Hugo Broos's Bafana Bafana in the 2024 AFCON taking place in Ivory Coast.

Following yesterday's disappointing 0-0 draw against the lowly-ranked Lesotho national team, Mohlala says yesterday's result has caused most South Africans to doubt the national team even more.

"We will come back early," Mohlala tells KickOff.

"Our first game against Mali will determine if we are coming back or staying.

"But I'm telling you I don't feel the energy from the public about Bafana Bafana, there is no hype at all.

"Otherwise people would be going to stadiums in numbers each time they are playing here at home.

"People have lost faith, Bafana Bafana are going to come back early. As long as Hugo Broos is there, they are going there as visitors.

"I always say Bafana Bafana they are good travelers, but under Hugo Broos, we've been failing.

"I think it's better if we lose with our African coaches, Hugo Broos must just pack his bags and go back to wherever he came from.

"If he is that good then why is he only coaching in Africa and not in his continent?

"I have a belief in the Bafana Bafana players but not in the coach. You can't leave behind somebody who's got seven goals in the league and take somebody who's got only two goals.

"It's an insult. It shows in this Bafana Bafana team players are not selected on merit.

"We must not make the mistake of thinking things are going to be easy for South Africa.

"Tunisia is a great team, Mali is a great team, we shouldn't be surprised if we draw with Namibia in Ivory Coast.

"But with Bafana, I don't think I'm the only one who is not confident.

"At the moment we are not in support of Bafana Bafana as we were doing with Amabhokobhoko, with the Springboks we were confident."
