TS Galaxy continued to cement their spot in the tip eight with a 3-0 victory over Royal AM on Wednesday evening.

Samir Nurkovic, who has rediscovered scoring form, once more spear-headed the home side’s attack as Royal featured Sedwyn George, Sabelo Sithole and Sibusiso Magaqa up top.

It’s been a campaign of contrasting fortunes for the respective sides, with the host hovering in the top eight currently and at one stage sat amongst the top-four, while Royal sit in the bottom-half.

Results over the weekend had the Rockets claim a dominant victory over AmaZulu, whilst Thwihli Thwahla fell to a heavy pasting by the in-form Stellenbosch FC.

Sithole didn’t conclude the remainder of the contest and was substituted just past the half-hour mark, with Mfundo Thikazi introduced by coach John Maduka.

At the other end, the Rockets made a change too where coach Sead Ramovic hauled Lehlohonolo Mojela off the bench and sacrificed Sphiwe Mahlangu.

With no goals in the first half, Galaxy showed another change ahead of the resumption as Mpho Mvelase made way for the hard-running Mlungisi Mbunjana.

Galaxy still enjoyed the control of proceedings and hit the front when Nurkovic got on the end of Orebotse Mongae’s ball to find the net and continue his scoring run of form.

Maduka’s men battled to stage a comeback a little inside the closing stages, with the host holding out relentlessly to preserve their advantage.

The Rockets settled the contest in the final five minutes after Mojela showed up to tuck in fullback Samukelo Kabini’s delivery.

Galaxy added a third gpal with the last kick of the game as Kamogelo Sebelebele finished off Thato Khiba’s supply with the defence all at sea.

The loss dropped the visitors into the bottom-three, while the Rockets climbed up to seventh spot, overtaking Kaizer Chiefs..
