AmaZulu failed to get back to winning ways following a goalless draw against Polokwane City in the DStv Premiership on Tuesday evening.

Ramahlwe Mphahlele and Abbubaker Mobara were recalled by the host who also brought veteran George Maluleka and Sede Dion back from the weekend set-back at TS Galaxy.

AmaZulu didn’t have the easiest of starts and could’ve gone behind a little to the midway exchanges, but goalkeeper Veli Mothwa produced a solid stop.

In quick succession, the host pushed numbers to the front seconds before the half-hour mark and saw a free-kick from Mobara shave over the crossbar.

Usuthu continued to look for the breakthrough, but weren’t able to get any sight and finished the half goalless as Rise and Shine stood firm at the back.

Recent Bafana Bafana new boy Mlondi Mbanjwa went close a minute in the second half from a delivery in the area by Ben Motshwari, but he couldn’t hit the target.

The pressure continued on the visitors a few minutes later when Maluleka got hold off a loose ball following a corner-kick, however dragged well wide of the mark.

Coach Pablo Franco Martin freshened up the attack midway through the second half as Mbanjwa’s evening came to an end with Victor Letsoalo introduced.

Rise and Shine were pretty on the back-foot at this point and didn’t pose much of a threat, thus added Tlou Nkwe from the bench in place of Simon Ramabu.

No goals came from the two teams before full-time and ended up with a share of the spoils with Rise and Shine’s winning run ended in the process.

Confirmed line-ups:
