accreditation

Veteran defender Clayton Daniels has explained what motivated him to complete a return to Cape Town Spurs.

"Hare" signed with the Urban Warriors on a one-year deal following his release by Premier Soccer League club Maritzburg United.

Speaking to KickOff in an exclusive interview, the 37-year-old said among other things he joined the GladAfrica Championship side to help them win promotion.

"I've gone back to Cape Town Spurs," Daniels tells KickOff.

"I don't have any other concrete offers from the top league so what can I do.

"So Cape Town Spurs made an offer, I started thinking to myself that I've been away from home for a long time. So I am taking this opportunity to help them win promotion.

"It's a one-year contract, win promotion, and then we can take it further.

"I spoke to Maritzburg and told them I'm going to Cape Town if there's no offer there.

"He said he is going to speak to the coach (John Maduka), but he never got back to me.

"Then I told them if they fail to get back to me I'm accepting the contract offer from Cape Town Spurs.

"I've been away since my eldest son was born, he is 16 now so he needs his father to be around more, and I will be closer to my family.

"I'm excited about this opportunity, being back in Cape Town to get them back to where they belong in the DStv Premiership.

"Because they have all the infrastructure, they have everything, they still have all the infrastructure, they just need to go back to the PSL and Cape Town will benefit from it."
