Chippa United co-coach Thabo September has explained Morgan Mammilla's role as the team's technical director after he was spotted on the bench over the weekend.

Mammila was spotted on the bench and giving instructions to the players during the DStv premiership match against Mamelodi Sundowns played at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Tshwane on Saturday.

The former Baroka CEO was appointed technical team director at the Chilli Boys after the arrival of both September and Kwanele Kopo as co-coaches this year. Mammila was the head coach at Chippa before his new appointment.

September says they are enjoying a good relationship with the technical director Morgan Mammila as part of the technical team at Chippa.

“We comfortable having him there. Sometimes emotions take over when sitting on the bench and you want to give instructions. He knows he is a technical director," said September during a press conference after the match against the Brazilians in Tshwane on Saturday.

"It's just that we have this relationship because we are new in the club and he knows the players.

“We get to understand the players now, we know the players, the players we know, the confusion will be with people sitting on the stands. They know the man is technical director, he is  involved in technical stuff in terms of the game on the field”.

”So Ja, we working well there is good unity, it's just for us to explain to you guys on the other side to say we respect the space and we understand each other,” he added.

The Chilli Boys remain in 13th position on the DStv premiership table with 23 points after playing 20 games so far this season.
