Chippa United co-coach Thabo September bemoaned the fact the side were unable to convert their chances against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Gqeberha outfit suffered their seventh defeat of the DStv Premiership season after going down 2-0 to the Brazilians on Saturday night.

The Chilli Boys created some good one-on-one chances in the first stanza, but were unable to find a way past Ronwen Williams.

"Ronwen (Williams) made a good save from Sinoxolo (Kwayiba), you give it to him but there's one that he needed to make a save for us not to score and we didn't even put him to the test for that, it's those ones that you get disappointed about," he went on.

"It's tough when you get so clear opportunities against a team like Sundowns and you don't take them, so you will suffer."

Chippa made their first chance as early as the 30th minute and September also explained why they had to withdraw Brooklyn Poggenpoel and brought on Siphelele Luthuli

"I wouldn't be pleased as well as a player to be taken out in the first-half but it's the nature of the game, we had to do some tactical changes. We were playing a 4-2-3-1, we had to change a bit and have two," he carried on.

"Players that can take us out when Sundowns is pressing us. We were losing a lot of balls in the first 30 minutes and it is his first game after a long time to start, so on his side I think he lost eight balls sometimes from a press or him just giving the ball away.

"So we thought just to protect him as well, that can kill his confidence. So thought we can make a change, bring someone that's not gonna be affected by this. We know he can do the job, it's just that today is not his day," he added.
