Kaizer Chiefs could still be in with a chance to sign Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, who is open to remaining in the PSL despite reported European interest.

Amakhosi were initially linked with Nwabali before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations, as the Soweto giants will be looking to strengthen their goalkeeping department, with veteran shot-stopper Itumeleng Khune's contract expiring in June.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper went on to have an impressive Afcon tournament with Nigeria, where his value skyrocketed during the campaign.

Nwabali is said to have attracted interest in Belgium, Spain, France and Saudi Arabia, as the Chilli Boys chairman Siviwe Mpengesi reportedly put R40 million (approximately $2 million) price tag on his services.

The R40 million price tag was believed to have been out of reach for Amakhosi but Nwabali says he is yet to receive offers from overseas clubs despite helping Nigeria reach the Afcon final and is open to moving to another club in the PSL.

"I only see offers online, maybe some of my friends screenshot and say, 'Bro this offer is coming?' But to be honest I have not seen offers on my table. I wish for the rumour to come true," Nwabili said to journalists on the sidelines of the Nedbank Cup draw, when asked about European offers.

"Me moving from Nigeria to South Africa is a big thing, so me moving to a team in South Africa is not local. If my chairman really wants to sell me to any club in South Africa, so be it, I'll go," he said.

Nwabali had conceded only two goals at the Afcon before the Super Eagles reached the final, one goal less than Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.

However, the imposing shot-stopper conceded a further two goals in the final as the Super Eagles lost 2-1 to Ivory Coast and Williams kept a clean-sheet in the third/fourth place play-off against Democratic Republic of Congo and had another penalty shootout heroics, as he walked away with the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award over Nwabali.
