Head coach Eric Tinkler is backing American star Jordan Bender to shine for Cape Town City despite limited action since joining the Cape side.

Bender has struggled for regular playing time since his move to the DStv Premiership with 10 appearances from the bench so far this season.

The 21-year-old is currently on the sidelines nursing an injury with Tinkler hoping to see the attacker return to action soon.

"He is currently injured at the moment," Tinkler said.

"He is currently injured at the moment. We hope to give him a few games coming up in the Diski [Challenge] because he is still young and can play there.

"He still needs to adapt to the South African game.

"I have given 12 opportunities to him this season and in those games, he struggled to really show the ability he possesses in training.

"Now it's about him transferring what he is doing in training into the matches even if the minutes are not a lot.

"But he needs to show us that, but as I said he is currently injured."

Cape Town City is set to visit Orlando Pirates in the league match at the Orlando Stadium on April 22.
