Mor Diouf celebrates what he believes remains the best goal ever scored in the world.

Eleven years have passed since Mor Diouf scored from just outside his own box for SuperSport United against Mamelodi Sundowns but the memories remain fresh for him to boast.

In what was to become the fourth of the six years that he spent playing in South Africa, Diouf wrote his name into the PSL archives.

Diouf broke down a Sundowns attack outside the 18 area and with acres of space in front of him then took a few steps before shooting from 65 metres out to beat Wayne Sandilands who was back pedalling.

That goal won the Tshwane derby along with the 2012/13 goal of the season.

"I was watching that goal again this morning and just felt the rush of adrenalin down my spine," Diouf tells KickOff.com from Senegal.

"What has been happening is that every now and then I get people randomly sending me videos of that goal whenever they have discussions related to the best goals that they have seen.

"All I ever hear is, ‘look at how beautiful this goal was’.

"Those than know me from my time here in Senegal already knew that I had scored similar goals before.

"Scoring from own half was always something that I did from when I was kid because whenever I saw the keeper outside his area I would shoot.

"I have always had the power and technique to drive the ball from distances of 70 to 80 metres.

"Even with all the teams that I played for I would try it out at training.

"I believe that this is the best goal ever scored not only in the PSL but the world.

"If ever there was to be a competition to determine the best goal mine would be up there as the best because I scored from far.

"Some people will mention David Beckham’s goal or Hlompho Kekana, but they didn’t score from as far away as I did.

"Mine was about technique, power, and precision as the ball travelled at pace for such a long distance.

"Just to prove how beautiful that goal was, it is still spoken about by those who saw it up to this day all over the world including Europe.

"Folding my hands after scoring was just confirmation that I know I can do this thing and will do it again when I get a chance again.

"It wasn’t the first time that I had done so I had to act the part in celebrating.

"The goal was special because I scored it in the derby late in the match and it was a winner," says Diouf who initially played as a number 10 growing up before being converted to a defender at AS Douanes.

Diouf won the Telkom Knockout at SuperSport after joining from Maritzburg United where he also spent three years.
