Orlando Pirates 4-1 Mamelodi Sundowns

Orlando Pirates surged to the top of the DStv Diski Challenge table with a comprehensive 4-1 triumph over Mamelodi Sundowns in a top-of-the-table clash on Sunday.

Masandawana, who battered by Chippa United late last year, hit the front on ten minutes through a fine finish from Kutlwano Lukhele.

The Buccaneers took just two minutes to restore parity after Mpumelelo Ndaba met Mohau Nkota’s layoff to rattle the back of the net and had the contest level at halftime.

Nkota then came good for the Soweto giants midway in the second half when he finished off from the penalty spot, and later on set-up Lulama Nxumalo to make it three in fine fashion.

The 17-year-old completed a stellar afternoon’s work four minutes before the end as he rounded the rear-guard to tuck into an empty net and leave the Brazilians with a tail between their legs.

TS Galaxy 5-0 Polokwane City

TS Galaxy crushed the bottom-dwelling Polokwane City 5-0 to start the year on a perfect note after losing their last match to Golden Arrows.

Thembinkosi Luthuli got the Rockets off to the perfect start with a first-time volley -leaving Daanyaal Daya to extend the lead on the half-hour mark.

Rise and Shine were cut to size yet again and gave away a third courtesy of Mbhekiseni Buthelezi as the first half period concluded at the same time.

Galaxy weren’t done as Daya bagged a brace before Mpama made the points safe and ensured the resounding win in additional time, as the clash concluded.

Moroka Swallows 1-3 Sekhukhune United

Sekhukhune United recorded a second straight win to go fourth on the table after brushing off Moroka Swallows 3-1 in Dobsonville.

It was a bright opening for the visiting team, who went ahead through Oageng Phiri but the Dube Birds responded just before the break.

Babina Noko took full control though of the proceedings in the second stanza when Samkele Sihlali and a last-gasp strike from Keletso Sifama handed them all the points.

Cape Town City 1-1 Golden Arrows

Cape Town City and Golden Arrows didn’t have the desired start to the year and cancelled out each other with a tense 1-1 draw.

The Citizens got off to the perfect start and looked well on course for victory as Ahsen bagged the opener, but Samukelo Mlaba clawed Abafana Besthende level on the stroke of halftime.

AmaZulu 0-2 Royal AM

AmaZulu’s dismal campaign down in the bottom-two quagmire continued following a 2-0 loss to Royal AM in a KwaZulu-Natal derby engagement.

Usuthu, who haven’t had the campaign anticipated under Reneilwe Letsholonyane, were behind at the break and needed a boost to overturn the deficit.

That though didn’t arrive as Thwihli Thwahla went and bagged a second later on to leave the host in the bottom-two whilst they go into the top eight bracket.

Cape Town Spurs 1-2 Richards Bay FC

Richards Bay FC recorded a successive win to ease their battle against the drop after overcoming Cape Town Spurs 2-1 on the road.

Midfielder Owethu Nzimamde got the Natal Rich Boys up and running before the Urban Warriors responded only for Thandoluhle Gazu to find the winner in additional time.

The victory doesn’t move the visitors out of unwanted territory though, but keeps them in 13th spot whereas the Urban Warriors stay in seventh on the table.
