University of Pretoria is set to count on the experience of  Mamelodi Sundowns duo of Promise Mkhuma and Thabang Sibanyoni when the Motsepe Foundation Championship returns in February.

The National Soccer League has put all their domestic games on hold due to the Africa Cup of Nations which is set to kick off in Ivory Coast on Saturday.AmaTuks are currently sitting in position 2 on the log with 28 points after 17 games so far this season. They are set to visit NB La Masia in their next league match in Soweto on February 13.

Mkhuma and Sibanyoni are currently on loan to the University of Pretoria and coach Tiisane Motaung believes that they will make a difference in the team when the league resumes on Valentine's Day eve.

“Look they are big players. Look at the Mkhuma pedigree type of a player. He is going to add a lot of value for us”, said Motaung.

"It's a pity he didn’t do pre-season with us. He was supposed to join another PSL team. It didn’t happen. He came to us and that process picked up a couple of injuries and had to sit out. Now he is coming right and believe in February will be one of instrumental players”, he added.

Sibanyoni has scored 4 goals for the University of Pretoria in the league so far this season. The former SuperSport United striker was on target for AmaTuks in their last league match against Orbit College before Christmas.

“Remember when we went for playoffs he (Thabang Sibanyoni) was one our important players and even now we still believe that is an important player," said Motaung.

"Aerially he is dominant and very strong.

"In my view, the country needs aerial and strong players if you think players of Phil Masinga are more of that caliber. If you use him correctly, he will shine."
