Mamelodi Sundowns 2-2 Kaizer Chiefs

Title-chasing Mamelodi Sundowns dropped points in a 2-2 draw against Kaizer Chiefs in a thrilling DStv Diski Challenge clash on Sunday.

The Amakhosi made the breakthrough seven minutes in after Thulani Mabaso picked up a forward pass from Sihle Tati and slammed in the roof of the net.

Masandawana bounced back past the half-hour mark when Kutlwano Letlhaku made full use of disjointed bit of defending from the visitors and pounced.

Sundowns remained on the up in the second stanza and hit the front after Thando Buthelezi applied a short run-up to the box and finished with ease.

Chiefs were under more pressure as the Brazilians looked to extend the lead from the spot following a coming-together, but Onele Rulwana couldn’t take advantage and missed the decisive effort.

The Soweto giants didn’t surrender matters though but clawed level two minutes from time in astounding fashion courtesy of Xolani Cossa’s long-range belter -seeing the spoils shared.

Chippa United 0-1 Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates got back to winning ways to remain the top-half following a narrow 1-0 victory over Chippa United.

The Buccaneers suffered a disappointing defeat last weekend to the league leaders Stellenbosch FC and derailed their chances towards the title.

However, they have since amended it all as Cniso Mazibuko’s cracker in the second stanza secured all the points and left the Chilli Boys go home empty handed.

Stellenbosch FC 4-0 Cape Town City

High-flying Stellenbosch FC remained on top of the table after hammering provincial rivals Cape Town City 4-0 following a provincial derby showdown.

The Maroons were on song from the onset and a hat-trick from Thulani Mini ably accompanied by Kyle Bailey were enough to get the job done to see them go three points clear at the top of the table.

Richards Bay FC 0-0 Golden Arrows

Richards Bay FC and Golden Arrows battled immensely in the KwaZulu-Natal and couldn’t be separated following a goalless draw.

The point apiece leave the respective sides in the mid-table cushion of the standings, with the quest for consistency difficult to come by for either the outfits.

Cape Town Spurs 1-2 Sekhukhune United

Sekhukhune United claimed back-to-back victories to cement seventh-place on the table after seeing off Cape Town Spurs 2-1 on the road.

At the same time, the victory ends the Urban Warriors’ four-match winning run and keep their spot in the top-half hanging by a mere inch.

Babina Noko didn’t take long to get going but hit the ground running three minutes in through Gift Ngobeni before Tshidiso Tshehla followed up to give them the full haul of points.

Moroka Swallows 3-1 AmaZulu

Moroka Swallows boosted their aim to climb up the table and end the campaign in a respectable position following a 3-1 win over AmaZulu.

It was goalless well inside the interval, but the Dube Birds showed strong fortitude past the opening stanza and took flight in unapologetic terms.

Despite the bit of resistance from Usuthu, the Dobsonville-based boys remained unshaken and ultimately bagged the full haul of points.

SuperSport United 3-2 Royal AM

Defending champions SuperSport United continued to revive their campaign in the DStv Diski Challenge over Royal AM on Saturday.

It’s a fourth successive victory for the Tshwane heavyweights which moves them up into the top-half, while the loss extends the visitors run without a win to six matches.

Star player Thabang Mahlangu’s stock continued to rise as the home side’s talisman after he bagged a hat-trick to see his outfit over the line against Thwihli Thwahla.

Polokwane City 2-2 TS Galaxy

Basement dwellers Polokwane City continued to battle away as the season reaches the business end and played to a thrilling 2-2 draw with TS Galaxy.

Rise and Shine, who stunned Kaizer Chiefs over the past weekend, have won just three times all season as the stalemate leaves the Rockets on a 11-match winless run.
