The Premier Soccer League remains hopeful that the Carling Knockout final will be played in front of a good crowd on Saturday.

The South African league cup previously known as the Telkom Knockout returns after a four-year break with a new title sponsor.

Finalists Stellenbosch FC and TS Galaxy FC will battle for the new trophy at the 56,000-capacity Moses Mabhida Stadium. With both clubs not enjoying a large fan base in South African football, there are doubts if the final will be played in front of a large crowd.

PSL official Ronnie Schloss, says the League remains optimistic there will be a good attendance at the KwaZulu-Natal-based venue, regardless of the size of the two clubs.

"No we are not worried, we are going to get a big crowd," Schloss tells KickOff.

"There’s a lot of entertainment lined up so I think (there is) a bit of interest. They (will be many) entertainers. You know, in the past they couldn't get to see even one of the entertainers, so the entertainment is very good.

"So for a cup final, I think people will come. We have got four top artists performing. We may not get 55,000 people, but we believe we will get 40,000 people. And yes, we will be happy with that number," the official said.

"As you know sometimes it depends on the weather. We can't always have the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, and Mamelodi Sundowns in the final, the league comprises of 16 teams.

"And every team wants to do well, simple as that," he concluded.
