Sekhukhune United rallied from behind to record their first win in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages after seeing off Diables Noirs 2-1 on Sunday evening.

Tashreeq Morris, Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya, Lehlohonolo Mtshali and Vusimuzi Mncube were recalled to the Sekhukhune line-up following last week's defeat to RS Berkane.

Morris missed a golden chance from close-range to put the host in front on three minutes following a pass from Elias Mokwana.

Babina Noko kept pushing around the midway point but were pegged back after a stern finish from Alves Ngakosso-Oko, who got the better of goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangare.

The lead was cancelled minutes later as Morris combined with Kamohelo Sithole to see the latter pick out the back of the net with a smartly taken finish.

Ex-Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso steered the host ahead minutes before halftime after he worked a yard space to send a fierce shot into the bottom-corner.

Both teams instituted substitutions at halftime, with Freeman Niamathe replacing Ferdinand Gouari-Godo-Ouna-Fils, whilst Sekhukhune brought on Thamsanqa Masiya for Mokwana.

Diables looked to go back on level terms from a succession of chances by Jeremie Kalenda and Hernest Malonga, but neither managed to capitalise.

Having just come on, Masiya eagerly attempted to make an impact where he managed to get hold of an assist from Vusimuzi Mncube and fired inches wide.

Diables, though, continued to keep cool despite the pressure as Ngakosso-Oko and Malonga went close to levelling off quickly worked efforts.

There were chances at either end inside the final minutes, but there were no further goals as Babina Noko recorded their first group stage win in the Confederation Cup.
