TS Galaxy's Samir Nurkovic has been backed to rediscover the scoring form that made the Serbian one of the deadliest strikers in the Premiership while at Kaizer Chiefs.

Nurkovic spent three seasons with Amakhosi between 2019 and 2022 where he registered 21 goals 10 assists in 78 appearances for the Soweto giants.

The tall striker was released by the Chiefs at the end of the 21/22 season and had an unsuccessful spell with Royal AM with doubt cast over his future due to a niggling knee injury.

However, Nurkovic has silenced his doubters with a move to the Rockets, where he found the net twice in eight appearances.

Bernard Parker, who was teammates with Nurkovic both at Chiefs and now at Galaxy believes there is more to come from the 'Kokota piano'

"I'm so happy for Samir that he gets to score goals," Parker said during the club's media day on Thursday.

"The amount of time he plays is little but he manages to score goals for us and his presence at the club has actually lifted the attacking players mostly as well and for them to give Samir some stiff competition.

"With Samir’s mindset and mentality, how he came and joined us, is actually paying off for him because he came in with a strong positive mindset and also shared his experience with the guys as well as lifted the team.

"So, I'm happy for him, that he is starting to score goals because it will boost his confidence and just imagine if Samir gets more game time what more he can do for the team. We are blessed to have his quality here.

"I so wish that Samir get to his space as fast as he can because he will help the team immensely."

Galaxy take on AmaZulu at Moses Mabhida Stadium in the semi-final of the Carling Knockout on Saturday. Kick-off is at 15:30.
