Banyana Banyana suffered back-to-back defeats to the United States after going down 2-0 at Soldier Field stadium on Sunday.

Coach Desire Ellis recalled goalkeeper Andile Dlamini after the 3-0 loss a couple days ago, while Sinoxolo Cesane, Robyn Moodaly and Wendy Shongwe were among the other changes brought in.

The two sides already met a couple days ago at the TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, where a brace from Lynn Williams and a solitary strike from Trinity Rodman sealed a 3-0 win for the home side.

Rodman managed to get her name on the score-sheet for the second straight game after she got on the end of Alexis Morgan's cross to volley home at the far post, leaving Dlamini with no chance.

The Americans carved out the majority of the chances and should have been further ahead, but Dlamini kept Banyana in the game with a good save to keep out Tierna Davidson's close-range strike.

Banyana's failure to defend set-pieces were punished shortly after the break when Emily Sonnett sent a strong header into the back of the net after Dlamini was unable to deal with Megan Rapinoe's corner.

Ellis re-shuffled the pack for the latter stages of the second half, with Melinda Kgadieta Nomvula Kgoale, Fikile Magama and Gabriel Salgado getting minutes.

The changes would not have a big effect on the outcome going forward as the United States held on for the win and another clean sheet.

Ellis and Banyana will now turn their attention to the COSAFA Women’s Championship, which gets underway next month.
