Banyana Banyana recorded a dominant 3-0 victory over Tanzania in the CAF Olympic Qualifier first-leg on Friday afternoon.

Kaylin Swart, who was the preferred choice at last year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup, maintained the place between the sticks as Thembi Kgatlana, Hildah Magaia and Jermaine Seoposenwe lined up in a front-three.

It’s a combination that worked instantly as Magaia got a yard of space to get in behind and release Seoposenwe to make the breakthrough, with the host caught napping.

Banyana got chances to double the lead later on in the half, but the Tanzanians proved difficult to breakdown and targeted a turnaround in the grand scheme of things.

Desiree Ellis’ side were able to go to the break with the advantage despite the urge for a second goal in addition to Tanzania looking for a response.

Ellis still though decided to turn to go to the bench past halftime and summoned in Amogelang Motau in the place of Kholosa Biyana.

This didn’t affect their rhythm whatsoever as the African champions still extended the lead a little to ten minutes from the break courtesy of fine finish from star player and captain Kgatalana.

Banyana continued to hold the fort quite comfortably though, as Ellis made another alteration late on where Noxolo Cesane came on for Gabriel Salgado.

Tanzania were cut apart once again four minutes before the end when Magaia made full use of clever penetration play towards the box before profiting with relative ease.

As there were no further goals ahead of the closing seconds, Banyana emerged comfortable victors which will stand in good stead for the return-leg in a few weeks time.
