An insider at the South African Football Association has rubbished the latest rumour linking Hugo Broos with a Bafana Bafana exit.

According to speculation, the Belgian-born coach has already reached an agreement with the football federation of Tunisia to become their next coach following the surprise departure of Jalel Kadri. This, after the Carthage Eagles had an underwhelming Africa Cup of Nations campaign earlier this year, where they bowed out in the group stage.

Ironically, Broos' South Africa and the North African nation met in the last game of the group stage, which ended in a goalless stalemate that saw Bafana progress and Tunisia go home.

The Belgian is being strongly linked with a Bafana exit and the 2004 AFCON champions are believed to be his next project.

Apparently, according to the rumour, it's a done deal between the 71-year-old and Tunisia, and he was said to be leaving for the North African country immediately after the friendly match against Algeria that was played on Tuesday evening.

"We saw the stories about our coach leaving Bafana Bafana for Tunisia, but I can tell you now, it's not true, he is not leaving," a source tells KickOff.

"Coach Hugo Broos says this will be his last job, up until 2026. The man is now 71 years old, so this is his last football project."

On Tuesday, South Africa took on hosts Algeria in an international friendly in Algiers' Nelson Mandela Stadium,, with the thrilling encounter ending in a 3-3 draw.

This was hot on the heels of a 1-1 draw against minnows Andorra, a result that drew the ire of the Mzansi football-loving public considering the gap between the two in the FIFA World Rankings.

Tunisia, meanwhile, had beaten Bolivia 3-2 last Friday.
