Bronze medal winners Bafana Bafana will be smiling to the bank after the South African Football Association rewarded them handsomely financially for their efforts in Ivory Coast.

The Hugo Broos-coached side had a surprising run in the AFCON tournament that was won by hosts Ivory Coast last month.

Contrary to the initial belief that SAFA would only reward the players if they happened to go all the way and win the tournament, the organization has decided to give the players the agreed 50 percent.

This means each Bafana player that was at the Africa Cup of Nations received R700 000 after Tax.

"The players got their 50% as per the agreement, R700k after Tax," a reliable source tells KickOff.

"But not every member of the Bafana Bafana team that was at the AFCON is happy with their reward, there is an issue of disgruntled staff that got way less than what they were expecting.

"The support staff got less than R40 000 after Tax. That includes people like the physio and the doctor.

"And the support staff is not happy about this. They were supposed to be part of the players' agreement.

"They were not promised the same amount as the players, but just a small percentage of the prize money."

Bafana will take part in the FIFA Series international friendlies pilot project taking place in Algeria later this month, which will run from 18-26 March. They will play their first match against Andorra and Algeria.
