Bafana Bafana’s pursuit of a semi-final place will come with the plus of reaching a tournament milestone for the journey that started on home soil back in 1996.

Hugo Broos has tactically taken Bafana through to the last eight and now has Cape Verde as the next hurdle in the bid to reach the semi-finals where either Nigeria or Angola will provide opposition.

Bafana will play the island nation in Yamoussoukro on Saturday.

The chase for that semi-final spot that has eluded Bafana since the year 2000 will be ‘creamed’ by another milestone for the senior national team.

Should Bafana go through to the last four, they will reach 50 games at the AFCON finals with two matches secured in reaching the semi-finals.

A win in the semi-finals takes Bafana to the decider, while defeat will mean a third-place play-off ticket.

Since that famous 3-0 win over Cameroon in Group A at the old FNB Stadium on Saturday, January 13 – Bafana have gone on to play 47 games at the AFCON finals with 18 wins, 13 draws and 16 defeats.
