Sekhukhune United star Sibusiso Vilakazi has been featured as a cover star by an up-market fashion publication. Here's a look!

The story

Villa is now the latest famous person to be featured on the cover of Nounouche magazine's newest edition. The publication specialises in lifestyle, entrepreneurship, pop culture, and fashion content. The former Bafana Bafana star's appearance speaks volumes of the type of individual he has become, despite his football career going through ups and downs over the last few seasons.

The player had a candid interview with the outlet, discussing "growing up in a loving home in Soweto, his daughter Okuhle, the ups and downs of his career which has been marred by injuries. He also speaks about being a positive role model for his community and the youth and the responsibility it comes with!"

The 33-year-old has had an eventful journey in life and during the interview, he opens up specifically about his close bond with his parents. Born to a magazine merchandiser mother and a taxi driver father, the attacker grew up in Soweto and he admits that he was raised in a warm and supportive household that enabled him to chase his dreams, according to Nounouche.Online.

To thank his parents for making him realise his dreams, Vilakazi reveals that he actually bought his mother a house with the prize money he received for winning the 2014 Absa Premiership Player of the Year.

He said: “My mom is probably the one who does the calling now to check on me and Okuhle [his daughter]. My childhood was absolutely beautiful and I can now proudly say I have been blessed enough to buy my parents a house in Orlando as soon as I was in a position to thank them by doing something big for them,” he says of his mother.

“I won that big award [most coveted POTY] and as soon as I got that money [R250 000 prize] I went to the bank and if you are with the title sponsor at the time then Absa doubled the amount. My parents, especially my mom, were always there step by step – everything I needed they tried their best to make sure I was able to get it. They truly loved me, still love me. I was raised with love.”
