Bafana Bafana players have reportedly received their bonuses for finishing third at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

With each Bafana Bafana player having reportedly walked away with a whopping R700 000 for the team’s performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, fans have reacted to the handsome reward. Here's a look!

The story

Bafana players have are now said to have reaped the rewards of their bronze medal finish at the recent AFCON. This comes exactly a month after their triumph, which was their best showing at the tournament since 2000. Each player is believed to be R700 000 richer, with the amount being after tax.

KickOff readers on Facebook shared their thoughts on the topic.

“Hardwork always pays, they really deserve it,” says Noluthando Kaboyellow Sandawana Nqoko.

“These Sundowns players are loaded yoh,” says Michael Mokwanamu Tebele.

“Thanks to The Hawks,” says Smonyo Mndebele.

“Now because Hawks raided them last week Friday,” says Lakay Marakalala.

“So they paid them after the Hawks made a move to their offices,” says Myrie Peace.

“Why so late? I repeat, Jordaan and his team must step down, all of them,” says Ntate Wa Katleho Eseu.

“Hawks effect,”” says Tshepo Sebogodi.

“Makgopa deserves more,” says Philani Fana.

“They are trying to have positive news written about them after the Hawks raid,” says Munyai Cassie Cassius.

“Thanks to Hawks for raiding SAFA offices otherwise it could have taken another five years for them to get rewarded,” says Ganjafarmer Anda.

“So now they are telling the public how much was it after The Hawks visited them. They wanted to chow the rest of the money with their boss Danny aka Robert Mugabe Jordaan,” says Thabiso T Man Serape.

Meanwhile, after Orlando Pirates beat arch-rivals Kaizer Chiefs 3-2 on Saturday, Bucs legend Teboho Moloi insists that the coaches of the respective clubs, Jose Riveiro and Cavin Johnson, deserve more credit for bringing the spark back into the Soweto derby. KO readers mostly agreed with Moloi.

“So true, the game was really entertaining,” says Vho Luhatsi Vho Mazhambe.

“You are spot on Tebza, we were entertained on Saturday but l still think if it wasn't for Chavani, Chiefs was going to concede more than three goals,” says Gatsheni Mandla Brighton.

“As hurt as I am about that painful defeat but I'm happy how they restored the dignity of Soweto derby,” says Mello Bello Studio.

“I am a Kaizer Chiefs fan but I am happy with the goals. Big game like that needs lots of goals and the goalkeeper must come to the party as well,” says Thabang Motlhabane.

“Both teams played well and they scored goals. That's what fans want to see, a class derby,” says Noluthando Kaboyellow Sandawana Nqoko.

“Derbies during Micho's era were also entertaining,” says Lindo Hlatshwayo.

“Let's be honest, Kaizer Chiefs is much better under Cavin Johnson. The missing puzzles can be fixed,” says Thabo Khathini.

“Really the derby came alive after a long time, giving us five goals in all without incidents although the referee was a little bit shaky but he stood the test of time,” says Nkagisang Tshenyego.

“That's the kind of derby we want to see, not goalless draws and slow games. Up the BUCS,” says Daniel Modjadji.

“Maybe we can see a derby like this every time when we have Ramaphosa and the FIFA president at the stadium,” says Bonga Mvulah.

“The referee was determined to make it a one sided affair but Pirates increased the fight and brought back the flavour of the derby,” says Mpumelelo Memeh Dlamuka.

“Yeah the last time we witnessed this kind of derby was when Pirates won 3-2  after Benni McCarthy bagged a brace,” says UDee Mfan'uMinenhle Sanele.
