Nigeria has a great record against the Spaniards,from china85-france98-korea2007.That record must be protected and possibly i hope they get a winning goal today but whatever the outcome the important legacy of this tournament will be the no of potential talents discovered,molded and injected to form a stronger and formidable Super Eagles.The aim would,ve been defeated should the flying eagles by some chance lift the trophy for the first time and fews yrs later all of the winning squad goes obscure.

Disappointed by the mental approach of the squad in the first half of the Venezuala game.
It was obvious the Venezualans were driven by the match being their debut. But the Flying Eagles looked dour, flat and disorganised.
Now, we've put ourselves in a precarious position: nothing but a win against a solid Spain and a minimum of 6-0 against Tahiti in the final group fixture.
What's this with Nigerian national squads these days? Where are the midfielders?

Good Morning. I have read analysis and comments of the last match and would give kudos to the likes of Obis who did a good and candid analysis.

I would like to say that for some people who are claiming that people have turned their back against siasia are not just reading and digesting the comments or probably they decided to just write the prayers of their mind even before the start of the tournament. I am not a Fan of Amodu and I am sure there could have not been any comparison between the two. Even with my difference with Amodu, it would be unpatriotic fof me to pray for the downfall of the super eagles just becos I don’t like Amodu. Thus, it beats my Imagination when some people show up here to pray (not even wish) for the failure of flying eagles just because they are threatened by the successes of Sia1. Let me ask, are they truly Nigerians or has Sia1 dropped any of their brothers?

I was disappointed in the outcome of the match but I did say before match that we were playing against the team that ousted Argentina and that have subsequently been together afterwards. Some one said we would have crucified Amodu or Bosso for the same result. I will say a capital NO. Bosso took over the team well over a year ago, what match did he play in the African qualifiers that could be compared with the last match? Will you blame Hiddink for playing a good football against Barca in the Semifinal but was unlucky with the referee? I don’t like counting on the referee but read the account of even kickoff and watch the match again, the referee dished out cards as if he was sent to cage eagles. The captain complained at a point and he flashed a yellow card. Even with adults in the premiership, they are allowed to view their opinion. The difference in this flying eagles is that they WENT DOWN FIGHTING. That’s what we should be known for.

I feel Udoh was missed in the match. But I also appreciate Sia1 cos he takes responsibility for his actions. He has not heaped blame on any one.

Seeing the players on injury list, its hard to say who and who should play. The two player that I would have looked up too are Ikande (for the marking) and Ibrahim (for the creativity).

Sia1, the time was short but you were not a coward when you took up the job. You are brave to take on the risk cos that’s the attribute of a great man. The bigger the risk, the bigger the reward.

I am sure that even if we loose, we will not be disgraced and we would fight to the end. GO FLYING EAGLES. If you scale through to the next stage, I might be in Egypt with my family to cheer you up.

Sia1 you remain the best in Nigeria.

@Stilo, what has Siasia done to you? The best of coaches still lose matches. There is no doubt that Siasia's tactical approach is always world-class, whether he wins or he loses. Watch the past matches of all the teams he had coached. That is the difference between him and Amodu. Though our boys lost the match against Venezuela but they gave a very good account of themselves in the second half. Having said that, I beleive that they are going to put up a good outing today against Spain.

This is fanaticism of the highest order. The guy is losing and you still dance around to over-hype him.Looks like you guys enjoy possession and fine play more than results [ winning]. All that matters in soccer today is scoring and winning. This SE team does not have it, can't you see.
Spare us the crap of the coach taking over the team in a short time. The current coach of the Ghana U-20 team took over the U-17 team for a couple of weeks but placed fourth at the last U-17 World Cup which Nigeria won. Anyway go FE

That is not what they call fanatism if you check your dictionary well. Would you have crucified ancelotti for Chelsea loosing a game to Wigan last week Sa****ay? Would you as I said in my last comment said hiddink was bad for loosing to Barca last season?

I will advice that you save the crap of crying over a loss. Venezuala did not come for a party. Check their qualification and you will see that they are not a washaway team.

Bad football and winning will only take you to a particular level. Check most of the comments on goal.com, completesports and all other sites and you will see that most nigerians appreciate good football and they could see promises. Majority that see the promises cannot be fanatics.

Please do your own analysis to show where the technical team did bad with selecetion and tactical changes?

Well done Coach Siasia and all the players.

In my view of their first game is that, the coaches need to adjust their defenders like Adejo, Adejo is good o but i like understanding with the other players because is the man playing N0. 5 he need to watch out other player and talk to them but in my owne view he didnt do so whihc is not good at all for the defender even is the one cause the goal self.

And again in the front we need that N0 9 which Fatai to start the games as firts 11, becuase the guy very good we all se the way he penetrate their opponest as he enter the field.

Una well done my fellow soccer lovers. I have been reading your comments for long and decided to join today. Rearding our current junior team in Egypt I pray dey win today's match. I beleive in Siasia and his boys. Today match should be very hard we need some element of luck on our side inorder to succeed. The only thing Siasia did which I don't like is exclusion of Kingsly Udo,Siasia would have forgive that guy and include him in the team but that has become past tense, I pray his replacement up to expection.

I know some guys wont like what am going to say cos the truth is bitter... The flying eagles have only 20% chance of qualifying for the next round cos they've lost the opportunity in the first match. Thats the same problem super Eagles have now,they played four matches and managed to win only one and they are waiting for miracle to happen. Our soccer level has really gone down. Lets forget the under 17,20 and south africa 2010 and find a good cure to prepare for 2011 and 2014. Long live Nigeria!!!

We are all aware that the chances of FE qualifying after losing to Venezuela and watching how the Spaniads demolished Tahiti is very slim but the difference between their situation and that of the Green Eagles is that they still have everything in their hand to move to the next round whereas the Green Eagles need either Kenya or Mozambique to upset the Tunisians.

the officiating in that last game was horrible.
i mean come on...
that ref just made too many bad calls.
now about you critics of Siasia, the man gets his team ready, does it the right way, makes half time adjustments, and still compete with 10 men against 12 {if you count the ref}. i dont expect him to win ALL games, no coach can, so win or loose, i am with him. a man of principle.

@stilo….You are still smarting from the exclusion of Mikel and Taiye Taiwo from last year’s Olympics. In spite of the absence of these two (not so) gentlemen, Siasia went on with his crew of glory-hungry small boys and won Silver: something that continues to gall you! Now it seems that suddenly you see a silver lining in the clouds (forgive the pun…….that is, if you even have the intellect to recognize it)! After just one match, you’ve seen enough reason and justification to crucify Siasia! Your opinion reeks of bile, and is totally condemnable!

Alas…..I detect the Chelsea supporter in you. For the records I do not support any European team slavishly, preferring instead to support only those that employ Nigerian players (including Chelsea) depending on the specific match, but always supporting my darling Enugu Rangers (come success or failure) always, and any other Nigerian club on continental assignment (except when they come up against Rangers). Why are so many Chelsea supporters so ill mannered? How can a man wish for the failure of his country in a competition, mainly because he hates the coach so much? And I believe Stilo is Nigerian, because his Pidgin English is so good (even if he obviously suffers from poor academic attainment from earlier in his life). My friend, please mend your ways!

Again for the records, I supported the call for patience with Amodu from the very start of the current qualifiers, and I still support his continuation of his job up to the end of the qualifiers, mainly because of continuity and the lateness of the hour for making changes. But it’s clear that if by some miracle we qualify, he doesn’t have what it takes to take us to the World Cup! After very many matches, his team has still not developed any discernable pattern, with team chemistry almost completely lacking. In the Tunis leg of the qualifiers, the SE came out with an understandable game-plan centered on frustrating the Tunisians, and they did so to perfection. In the Abuja leg, they obviously did not have a clear and well thought-out strategy for winning. That’s why a number of players were looking lost for the full 90 minutes. The coach must take most of the blame, even if the players should take some of it! On the contrary, Siasia reacted to adversity by re-jigging his team for the 2nd half against Venezuela and producing a heart-warming performance that says everything about the man as a coach. In the space of one match, his team had already started improving! That’s what great coaches are made of!

I don’t know if we will get a result against Spain, but I certainly know that if we play as well as we did against Venezuela in the 2nd half of that match, we stand a good chance. And here’s the great difference between you (Stilo) and I….regardless of the fact that I don’t support Amodu’s coaching methods at this moment, I will never wish that the Super Eagles lose any match, just to spite him! I think Stilo does not know what patriotism is all about!
