Fifa ignore NFF requestFifa ignore NFF requestPosted: 2009-09-15 10:05 World football governing body Fifa has ignored the request made by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) proposing that the Tunisia versus Kenya fixture of October 10 at Rades should kick off simultaneously with the rest of the continent's South African 2010 qualifying fixtures. According to This Day, NFF had wanted FIFA to step in to coordinate the kick off times of next month's fixtures as the body is of the belief that an earlier or later kick off schedule could hand Tunisia an undue advantage considering that the result of one of the rivals would have already been known.Nigeria will be hosting Mozambique on October 10 and will want a co-ordinated kickoff time with the hope that when they secure their home victory, it will keep the race for the chase of Group B ticket to the final day on November 14. That is the very day Kenya would host Nigeria in Nairobi, while Tunisia would travel to Maputo to take on Mozambique. Late last month, FIFA had in a letter written to NFF and other African affiliates still in the World Cup Qualifiers, confirming that that it would arrange for simultaneous kick off times when the situation requires for such measure to be applied. The letter was signed by Fifa Executive Director Competitions, Jim Brown. Article 17, paragraph 10 of the regulations guiding 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa states that Fifa has the right to change kickoff times, as the one fixed by the host association is only provisional. In line with this, Fifa would definitely be opting for the coordinated final match day kick off time on November 14.
Recent Comments: 37Frank: 2009-09-15 10:45 Medicine after death! Will the players show more commitment? NO! A country that prides itself as the giant of Africa yet FIFA ignores us thus. No single Nigerian referee is respected by CAF talkless of FIFA. Anybody remember Jean Fidel Diramba? He was the controversial referee that officiated in Nigeria vs Cameroon Nations cup finals in Maroc 1988. Any body remember what transpired? We are giants in population only, and what useless population. No major decisions go our way instead Cameroon and other smaller countries get it. Until we begin to act and look our age, we'll continue to ridicule ourselves in the eyes of the world even ordinary Sudanese FA sees nothing in the NFF. mjbaba100: 2009-09-15 10:54 Utter Rubbish!!!! Nigeria is out of the WC,faith without work is death, our player are not ready to go to WC, not with what then are playing. muhammed: 2009-09-15 11:56 NFF what you have to do now is prepare well for the remaining matches and win it because at the point of time we have to win our remaining matches even any miracle can happen James: 2009-09-15 11:59 funny indeed 2 the ears. Nff want 2 fllw the back door. When u fail 2 plan u plan 2 fail. Fifa knows our antics so they cant listen to us. Either we play before, same or after that dont guarantee us any chance. If we had made such decision earlier maybe it might count but its late. Let those charlatan coach & folks in the glass house throw in the towel honorably and we fix ex football players there to run our FA Chika: 2009-09-15 12:25 The Nigerian Players did very well and deserved to be praised. NFF or NFA is the PROBLEM. Retired players have no managerial skills to take over NFF or NFA. These players need to go back to school and study management, human/organizational relation, leadership and so on. Every retired Nigeria player want to be coach and most of them can not write a short history about themselves. eteng: 2009-09-15 12:28 yeye o yeye Y..I..N..K..A: 2009-09-15 12:31 james Chika: 2009-09-15 12:43 Nigeria if you want to become great in soccer, you must not be affraid of playing big countries like Germany, Italy, Spain, England, USA, Brazil, Argentina, Portugal and so on. I mean friendly games in their country. I bet you, most of the players will pay their way to these games if money is your issue. If Nigeria invest $1 from each barrel of oil sold for 10 days only assuming 1 million barrel a day. That will account to $10 million. It's a shame. James: 2009-09-15 13:05 Chika, pls take a look at ur words. Who told u our ex players wont handle nff. Who told u some didnt go to school. Many of them do part time or distance learning prog. Who even told u the present crop of nff went to school?Even if they did, they bribed their way thru. In the forthcoming election we need the right people to via for the election.I still feel some pdp members might contest for the nxt nff election jp world: 2009-09-15 14:15 Halu forum, yes we have failed for the world cup! Now we need a new beginning.. Now I want your forum people who are good in saying Amodu NFF are goat head.. to come with something special Noble: 2009-09-15 14:16 This request is absolute rubbish. Nigeria is not serious. What a BIG shame! The Giant of Africa is begging for a change of time for another team. Thats childish you know. We have failed and thats all. Nigeria will qualify for World Cup in 2018 when we must have put our house in order. When perhaps, this current NFF board must have been dissolved. Poor Nigeria. jo na wa ooo YerimanPHC: 2009-09-15 15:23 Dear Forumites, moneyman: 2009-09-15 15:38 NFF always like to do things in Nigeria's way. Its like bribing satan to enter Heaven. collins: 2009-09-15 15:57 Useless NFF. What act of supidity is that? You have the ball at your court and wasted it, now why crying and making empty noise? FIFA thank you for ignoring them. A country and NFF that lack focus and good management system. Shame and shamefull NFF. collins: 2009-09-15 16:05 please everybody note and don't ever mention it again. NIGERIA IS NEVER AND IS NOT AN AFRICA GIANT. I THINK THE GIANT YOU CLAIM IS A LIE FROM THE PIT OF HELL. IF ANYONE HAS TRAVEL TO OTHER AFRICAN COUNTRIES LIKE SOUTH AFRICA FOR EXAMPLE, YOU WILL KNOW THAT NIGERIA IS NEVER ANY THING TO BE CALLED A GIANT. THE THINKING OF NIGERIANS HAS BEEN ENSLAVED AND BLIND FOLDED BY THE WAYS THINGS OPERATE IN NIGERIA. NIGERIA HAS NO SYSTEM AT ALL, NO MANAGEMENT AT AN LEVEL. THAT'S WHY WE SEE NFF MAKING A FOOLISH AND USELESS REQUEST TO FIFA. Madu: 2009-09-15 16:48 At Nff, na only God go purnish un. @ Amodu and d coaching, may God purnish u epually with the football house and for those unpatriotic players, may u have injuries until after 2010. Telling fifa to ask Tunsia to fix a time simultaneous to the kickoff Nigeria does not make sence. Even if FIFA forces Tunisia to play the game in a neutral ground or even in Kenya, they will still beat kenya without mercy. and who said the eagles might not even draw thier game with mozambique. Chika: 2009-09-16 05:48 Hey Mr. James, I did not mean to say that the people at NFF went to school. I am frustrated that retired eagles players are not challenging to take over the leadership of NFF, players like Adokie A. If people like Sunday oliseh hold an MBA degree with his coaching Lic. The whole Africa will be behind him and support him to get into NFF and make some changes. Some of the retired players can become referees and help change the referee saga in Nigeria. Everyone of the retired players cannot be coach. Fine: 2009-09-16 12:10 It is a shame that NFF is trying to use the back door to win game. Who told you that you can always manipulate you way to WC especially when YOU FAIL woefully. You waisted a vibrant opportunity now ur looking for a cheap opportunity. The game is man to man and not about who play first. Play ur game, good game, out score your oppnent and you will be respected All of U in the glass house shoud resign in shame and stop breaking our heart. kaycee: 2009-09-16 12:14 why is NFF doing this now. its too late. you guys had made mistake. they should forget about the world cup.it's out of nigerian. we get the chance and mis use it . Big: 2009-09-16 12:17 It just shows that the guys in NFF do not know FIFA's statutes. In FIFA's statutes, it is stated that all final group matches in any major competition will be played simultaneously to avoid any sell out. How then will FIFA say that the match day 5 encounters be played at the same time when it is not the final day match? Copyright 2007 KICKOFF.com | 2009-09-15 10:05
