Sono targets Swazi midfielder

After failing to capture the signature of Mbabane Swallows striker, Mfanafuthi Bhembe who is now set to join Moroka Swallows, Jomo Cosmos have now turned attention to another Swazi National team player Felix Badenhorst.

Both Ezenkosi and the Dube Birds were involved in a tight race for the services of Bhembe who scored 11 games in 10 games in Swaziland since his return from the US when he turned out for the University of Alabama earlier this year.   According to KickOff.com’s sources in Swaziland, Cosmos’ owner Jomo Sono is now focusing his attention on signing the former Swazi Under-20 midfielder who has won four caps for the senior national team coached by Ephraim ‘Shakes’ Mashaba.   “Jomo was here last week to watch Bhembe, but also ended up being impressed by Felix’s performance during the match between Manzini Wanderers and Mbabane Highlanders where he scored two goals.   “Badenhorst agreed to join Cosmos and Jomo has already sent Celeni Shongwe, his business partner in Swaziland, to open negotiations with Wanderers,” the source said.   Badenhorst, who also had trials with SuperSport United earlier this year, confirms to KickOff.com there is a possibility of plying his trade in South Africa next season.   “I am very excited. It has been my dream to play in South Africa and now with this opportunity to join Cosmos, I can’t wait for the chance and play in the PSL next season,” he says.
