Bidvest Wits midfielder Papy Faty collapses in friendly

Bidvest Wits midfielder Papy Faty collapsed after coming on as a sub during a friendly practice match against SuperSport United yesterday.

Faty was rushed to Milpark Hospital after experiencing a blackout immediately upon entering the field against the Tshwane outfit at the Bidvest Stadium.

The 25-year-old is currently still recovering in hospital, and the cause for his collapse is yet to be revealed.

Meanwhile, Bongani Khumalo and Joaquim Lupeta were on the scoresheet as the match ended 1-1.

Gavin Hunt’s side currently top the Absa Premiership standings, with 26 points from 11 games, and next face Kaizer Chiefs, who are in fourth position with 18 points from11 games, in their last fixture of the calendar year at the Cape Town Stadium on 19 December.
