US-based Khumalo signs for DC United

United States-based striker Thabiso Khumalo has joined Major Soccer League side DC United, a club considered as one of the most successful in American soccer.

The 28-year-old midfielder, who starred for Second Division Pittsburgh Riverhounds in the just-ended season, has secured a three-month loan deal with the Washington-based topflight side.

He is now waiting for his work permit, which he hopes will come through before the end of the week.

“Everything is going well for me. I have signed with the team for three months,” says an elated Khumalo, adding that he is confident of playing this weekend when the Tom Soehn-coached side takes on FC Dallas on Saturday.

“I did talk to the General Manager (Dave Kasper) and he assured me that my work permit should be here this Friday. Hopefully, I will play at the weekend,” he says.

The Soweto-born striker, who had a successful season with Riverhounds, which culminated in him being selected as one of the best 16 players in the USL-2, hopes that kind of form will earn him a more lucrative contract.

“Right now I am on loan, but if I perform well, I might sign with the team next year. It all depends on how good I perform for these couple of months.”

Khumalo, who went to United States as a youngster on a scholarship, has played for a number of amateur and lower division clubs, such as Mid-Michigan Bucks, Chicago Fire and Charleston Battery in the US prior to the move to Riverhounds.

After his return to South Africa, he had a stint with Vodacom League side Alexandra United before returning to the US this year.

I hope he confesses about all the cruel things he has done, people are repenting now.Who might have thought that people like him can confess publicly, damn these are the end times, people are repenting. He must wash C.Barker,Shakes Mashaba,Carlos Queiroz's feet just like what Vlok did to Chikane. We can then forgive him for the mess he has put our soccer into.

Eat your hearts out MaChips and Pierats and read this............

Word coming from the Sundowns camp is that the club, known as the Real Madrid of South Africa, because of wealthy owner Patrice Motsepe’s ever-ready cheque book, will soon be pimped out with new Daimler Chrysler vehicles!

A reliable source close to the club revealed exclusively to the Siya crew that Sundowns will be ditching their current vehicle sponsors, Nissan, and replacing them with Daimler Chrysler.

The Siya crew tried to call Sundowns spokesman Mahlatse Mphahlele this morning to confirm the news, without success. Perhaps he’s taking his new car on a joyride around Chloorkop!

Ayeye!
