Ngobeni is currently back at Pirates, who recalled him from his loan spell down at Golden Arrows.
Rumours will always do the rounds during the off-season, but at this point the Soweto-born player says he is still a Buccaneer.
"I'm still with Pirates and I the plan is to sit down and discuss a deal that works for both parties. Obviously I would like to know as soon as possible so that I can focus on what lies ahead for me," he told PSL.co.za.
Ngobeni made his name at Ajax Cape Town, where his silky passing and clever reading of the game marked him out as a midfield general of note, and saw him being capped by Bafana Bafana.
At Pirates however his chances became limited by the stiff competition for a starting berth, and a subsequent move to Durban followed, where he was re-acquainted with former coach Muhsin Ertugral.
The 25-year-old says he enjoyed his stint with Abafana Bes'thende.
"I had a good time with Arrows and it was great to be playing regularly – as a player that's the most important thing.
"I would have been happy to stay on there for another season. But Pirates decided to call me back and as I am contracted to them, I respect their decision. Now I just hope that my future can be clarified soon."
Ngobeni still has two years to go on his contract, which expires in June 2014.
