Josephs, Rodgers out of Bafana

Moeneeb Josephs, Eleazar Rodgers out of Bafana squad

Posted: 22 May 2012 Time: 08:39 am

Moeneeb Josephs and Eleazar Rodgers have requested to be withdrawn from the 30-man Bafana Bafana squad that is currently in camp in Phokeng near Rustenburg.

19 players have reported for national team duty so far.

In a letter written to team management and the technical team through his representatives, Josephs he will be not be able to honour this national team call-up or any in future owing to personal reasons.

The Orlando Pirates goalkeeper has also requested a meeting with Pitso Mosimane and the team manager to explain his reasons.

Mosimane has asked the player to pen a letter himself to explain the situation, before meeting him. The technical team is expected to make a decision on the way forward once they have received it.

Meanwhile Rodgers' team Santos have requested that he be excused from the Bafana camp as they are involved in Relegation Play-offs from May 23 to June 23.

It was a first call-up for the Santos striker, who admitted to being "surprised" to receive it, although he was second top scorer in the League this season.

Bafana Bafana will play three back-to-back matches in June – Ethiopia and Botswana in World Cup qualifiers on June 3 at Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace, and June 9 in Botswana.

The venue for the friendly against Gabon on June 15 is still to be determined.

Josephs is upset dat khune is back, and he'll be relegated to the bench again

It doesn't make sense for the older keeper to be no2 to the younger keeper. it's always the other way round so that when the older guy retires, the younger one takes over, but with madala josephs it's not gud cause khune is still young. And to add to his misery, Dareen Keet and Rowen Williams, both young keepers are maturing and becoming better than him......I would also retire if I were him..now oupa manyisa must follow him.

Bafana Bafana don't have Goalkeepers. Josephs is poor, same as the so called "Mzansis Finest" cuz he's no longer the same. I won't say anything about Sandilands. Maybe Keet can offer something.

Here we go again.....2 reasons for Moenib 1. Khune 2. He want Benny Fatman Mcchathy to be called for Bafana Bafana. This boys from Cape Flats they are big headed.Pitso dont bother yourself about him,we have enough keepers who can replace him.He can go back to Cape Flats and have drugs and wine

Isnt that Sheppard goal the same as the goal that Oupa Manyisa scored at the MTN 8 Finals? Mxim ,some people or should i say some Zebras are just hypocrites who are bitter for ending the season with nothing after their loudmouth manager said 2011/12 season its their season. Im still waiting to see Chiefs sweeping the boards.

Even today, no one can explain on what basis was Khune made mzansi number one.

Can someone please explain why is Khune first choice in the National team because Pitso is not a better person due to his sickness of favoritism and lack building a system that works.

He's tired of the favouritism of Khune by Pitso plus he doesn't need SAFA's stipends...

Seriously though, Josephs is 32 and is the 2nd choice goalkeeper so it makes sense that he must not be greedy and must afford Pitso the platform to use youngsters like Williams and Keet... Some idiots here cant/ won't c it dat way...

Big up to Josephs as Pitso is forever "building" for the future...
