Ajax Cape Town defender Brett Evans is confident of winning a contract overseas after his trials with Major Soccer League outfit Portland Timbers.

Evans is back at training at Ikamva, and feels he could have done enough to impress Timbers coach John Spencer.

“I enjoyed my time at Portland Timbers, so now I’ll wait on their response. It was a new experience to play in the USA; things are done very different over there,” he tells his club’s official website.

“I played in a reserve game against the Seattle Sounders and we won 2-0, so I hope to have done enough to impress the Timbers technical team.”

Evans has made over 300 starts for Ajax since joining them from Maritzburg City in 1999.

Portland timbers is a good team, and good choice for you for while the competition is very stiff you will be able to get game time as opposed to going to Philly Union,LA, DC, Dallas,RSL,Colrado Rapids for me those are very tough teams and you wont stand a chance to get game time. overall good choice if they sign you up MLS is by far mpre competetive than SA PSL

He will not sign for the Timbers, because of his age. They would rather develop their own young players. Timbers is a very ccompetitive teams and will make the play-off again this season. Anybody who thinks the MLS is a Retirement League, have no clue what they talking about. This league is growing leaps and bounds, and the PSL can learn a lot from them.
