Chelsea make Torres available for £20m

Posted: 2011-12-14 10:12

Chelsea have made Fernando Torres available for £20-million, making it a £30-million loss on the striker they signed from Liverpool in January, according to The Daily Mail.

Andre Villas-Boas was reportedly thinking about sending the Spaniard out on loan to try and rebuild his confidence but has now decided the club should cut their losses on Torres and remove his £150,000 per week wages from their books.

Torres has struggled since moving to Stamford Bridge for £50-million from Liverpool at the end of January and has scored just three league goals in total.

The arrival of Juan Mata from Valencia looked like it would help as he scored against Manchester United and Swansea, although both games ended badly with an incredible open goal miss at Old Trafford followed by a red card against the Swans.

Two more goals followed in the Champions League tie against Genk but since then the most expensive signing in British history has found himself behind Didier Drogba and now Daniel Sturridge in the pecking order and he failed to make an appearance against Manchester City on Monday.

Despite Nicolas Anelka being set to leave for China and rumours that Drogba might not sign an extension to his contract which runs out at the end of this season, it appears that Torres’ unhappy spell in west London could soon be at an end.

Eish! But I still think he's one of the best strikers in the world. Maybe a change of Leagues might help restore his goalscoring form...

Torres has for a long time been overrated and i think it is clear now that he really is NOT world class, i mean you can't even compare him to Drogba.let him go another team..maybe Tottenham or Everton.

This is a tough one for Chelsea.Torres hasn't really performed & if he is a class act,he should have settled now.Tough one in the sense that after Drogba they really don't have a firepower upfront & for such a big team is worrying.Even that 20M pounds is too high for Torres.

Villas, you are the one that should leave. Torres need to keep playing until he starts scoring and providing more assists.

Don’t take your frustrations out on Torres Coach.

oh well Torres shoudn have left Liverpool anyways just like Nasri shudn hv left ****nal now they are a bench warmers. Imagine Saurez and Torres upfront with saurez playng behind Torres. mcm i just wish Wenger could sign Shikiri frm FC Basel,Podolski frm cologne and Gotze frm Dortmund

gotze:

I am with you my outie on this one that boy from Basel can do wonders for ****nal. As for Mario Gotze i have been singing the same song since last year.We also nid podolski to compliment RVP,since chamack and Gervinho will be in the Nations cup.
As for Torr, i think he lacks confidence mayb a loan will do him good,Wenger should consider him too.At ****nal we make stars.

Bonga: 2011-12-14 14:30

The first time I saw him during the 2006 World Cup in Germany I had no doubt in my mind that he is an ****nal"s material hence I wish ****ne Wenger can consider signing him. It would be a 30m pound's jackpot for Liverpool also they can sign him back; I mean they sold him for 50m pounds and they have a chance to buy him for 20m pounds.

Now I believe it when they say Sundowns is a Chelsea of SA Football. There is more in common between these two teams when it comes to senseless expenditure.

If AVB wants to be fired he will sell El Nino, but I doubt he will, His in the same boat as Kaka at Real. Although he isn’t injured just off-form....form is temporary buy class is permanent. The EPL doesn’t suit Torres game.
