AmaZulu sack coach Manqoba Mngqithi

AmaZulu have revealed that they have released coach Manqoba Mngqithi as their head coach following a string of poor results.

Usuthu are yet to win a match this season and are sitting on the bottom of the log with two points from five matches.

According to sources, Mngqithi was given two matches against Jomo Cosmos on Tuesday and against Moroka Swallows on Saturday to win, and if failed he would be fired. KickOff.com reported that the club were ready to take action last week.

In those matches the former Golden Arrows coach drew against Cosmos, and then lost to Swallows 1-0 at home on Satuday.

The club director Graham O'Connor said on the club official website that the decision to terminate his contract was purely influenced by lack of positive results.

"Considering the fact that Manqoba has added a lot of value in the club but unfortunately the results were not forthcoming, hence we had to release him from his contract," he says.

O'Connor also reveals that Mngqithi will be replaced by Durban Warriors coach Roger Palmgren who will be assisted by the same technical team.

Palmgren will assume his new role immediately and his first match in charge will be an away tie against Bidvest Wits on 24th September.

"Firstly I feel very sad for the coach because I've been part of AmaZulu, and I was one of the people who recommended him but we needed more points than we have," Palmgren says.

"We're all going to be judged by results as coaches. I promised myself after Thanda [Royal Zulu] to never take a team without proper administration and a good team.

"I still believe that even though we have not been getting the good results – we have a good mixture of young and experienced players," Palmgren says.

First it was Khabo, he left Arrows and things never went well for him, now it's Manqoba, same thing happened. With Middendorp failing at Arrows, Manqoba must go back there.

these amazulu management is full of clowns, how can they replace the poor manqoba with this overrated palmgren who failed dismally at Thanda Royal Zulu and now they think he'll be better than TV, even if they replaced him with Ruud Krol I would have understood but I foresee another lack of positive results under this pathetic swedish loser.. Krol is bettr than this mogggooe who insults his players

I fail to understand why coaches always have to pay de price for poor results? Who plays on de field? Who makes decision regarding buying players? Is it de coach? If yes den teams can easily fire a coach, if know then I don't get it. One can not expect to win with mediocre players.

It was always obvious that the management never really had confidence in him.You could sense that they were looking for an excuse to fire him. What is surprising is that they are replacing him with Mr Palmgren,an abject failure at TRZ.He did not set the world on fire at Rwanda as either.Could it be that he is a shareholder at Amazulu?

Why did you sack Neil Mukuku? No reason at all just abusing power now pay the prize and go to Mvela, this Ex Arrows coach never achieved anything but beat Sundowns only what made you want him desparately?

manqoba your first blunder was to leave a well build & star-studded team like arrows. Arrows invested in you and now you are going to mvela. Its obvious there is no team your size in the psl. Money is not everything
