Morgan Gould patient on Crystal Palace deal

Posted: 18 July 2011 Time: 18:23

Morgan Gould expects to find out whether he has done enough to earn a transfer to English Championship side Crystal Palace at the end of the week.

The SuperSport United defender is on a two-week trial in the UK and played a pre-season friendly for the Eagles on Friday night against non-league Basingstoke Town.

Gould played for more than an hour in a 2-1 victory for Palace and is expected to feature in Tuesday night's friendly against newly promoted League One side Wycombe Wanderers, but admits he is still in the dark over whether he will move to south London permanently.

"I haven’t wanted to ask how it is going yet because I just want to get my head down and work hard," he tells KickOff.com from Bafana Bafana teammate Kagisho Dikgacoi's home in London.

"I’m just going to wait until we are done with the next match and then I’ll see what the manager is thinking."

Palace returned from their week-long stay in south west England at the weekend, with Gould scheduled to be on trial until Sunday. That means Tuesday's encounter with Wycombe could be his last opportunity to show what he can do, although the former Jomo Cosmos star believes he has acquited himself well so far.

"The match against Basingstoke was a very competitive and a lot of players were just trying to get their match fitness back slowly," he says.

"It wasn’t too bad – obviously it was my first training game of the new season and I think I did pretty well. But the game against Wycombe on Tuesday will be a much bigger test."
