Crystal Palace to pay R5million for Morgan Gould

Posted: 7 July 2011 Time: 14:16

Crystal Palace have confirmed that they have agreed a fee of £500 000 with SuperSport United for Morgan Gould – but will only sign him if he impresses on trial.

Gould is awaiting final clearance from his current club to travel to London next week in an attempt to seal a move to the English Championship.

And the 28-year-old centre back, who captained Bafana Bafana for the first time against Tanzania back in May, admits he is relishing the opportunity to show what he can do.

“Obviously it’s a trial so either I will make or I won’t, but we’ll see what happens,” he tells KickOff.com. “Hopefully everything will go as planned and I can ply my trade in the UK.”

Eagles’ boss Dougie Freedman spotted Gould playing for Bafana alongside new signing Kagisho Dikgacoi. And the former Scotland international admits that although he has been impressed by what he has seen, Gould must still prove he is worthy of a transfer.

“We do want to get him over here to have a proper look at him, but it hasn't been rubber-stamped yet,” he told the Croydon Advertiser.

“I saw quite a bit of him when I was weighing up the move for KG and he looks as though he could be what we are looking for. He's an experienced international centre-half and he could be the answer. But we would have to take him on trial before we committed to anything.”

Only Jomo Cosmos development products are saleable. Overseas team know that they are good. Chiefs has one-legged cows that no one will buy. Musona, Shabba and Khune will remain in SA foerever.

5million, doesnt sound good. Are desperate? Becareful dude, dont show them you are too desperate, they will start thing they are doing you a favour, which can not be true. you are one of the best defenders in the country, in fact you are better the most defenders in England.I know that they taking your age into consideration, but you can negotiate a better offer locally. i know gavin now sell to KC he has a grudge with the team.but i am sure KC can aford you, we paid the same amount for tefu. Why does SSU, Ajax, Arrow hate KC.when we ant their players the price go over the roof, but when pirates wants them the price suddely goes down.this people are greedy, they destroying players. sum players are only suitable for certain teams, like Gould is a KC material.

R5M? I hope this is not what Forest wants to put on the table for Shabba bcos CHIEFS will reject it and even Shabba himself can pay that amount of money nxa. Gould is the best reliable defender that we have so far ready to play at any level.

No offence to Palace or any other PSL teams but Sundowns would have paid "AT LEAST" R5 000 000 to bring you on-board.

You had to settle for this abroad, and "STILL" have to undergo trials.

DUDE! ARE YOU THAT DESPERATE?????

Geez!

Gould is 28 yrs old and in the english football standard,a player at the age of 28 is old, especialy when u lack european football experience.

In my opinion,GOULD worth less than R3million.PERIOD

I think this money is right for Morgan Gould if you look at his age and the standard of our league. The problem in our league once a player plays well 2or 3 games with think that player is good enough to play in Europe! It is very sad to see some of them not even making to the bench but the stands. For Shaba the boy is battling with injuries yet he want to play in Europe and I don't think he will make it 'cause of these injuries. You know what other players are only good to compete in our league.

Now i amm getting tired of these europeans for buying our players and bench them. why are you signing them in the first place? and another thing you can't master or understand the teams system when you are either on the stands or the bench, you need to be in the field
