Komesho FC of Namibia beat African Soccer Developments (ASD) Cape Town 3-2 in the Final of the 2011 Metropolitan Under-19 Premier Cup, becoming the first foreign team ever to take the trophy.
It was a thriller of a Final, and although Komesho led 2-0 at half-time, they were lucky to take the game as ASD got two goals back in the second half.
Komesho have been impressive throughout the tournament, finishing undefeated and taking home a cool R30 000. ASD took home R15 000 as runners up.
In the group stages, Komesho overcame City Lovers 2-1, Ajax Cape Town 2-0 and Milano United 2-1, before overpowering Baltic Rangers -- who had earlier beaten Kaizer Chiefs -- with Neville Tjiueza, Petros Shitembi and Eslin Kamuhanga finding the back of the net.
Komesho also knocked Stars of Africa Academy off their pedestal, and in the exciting final pipped ASD, whose scholars like Ayanda Patosi, Devon Saal and Ebrahim Seedat have the advantage of individual coaching by ex-England and Arsenal striker Ian Wright.
