Power outage interrupts Eagles training

Posted: 2010-09-03 06:40

Power outage at the UJ Esuene Stadium forced the cancellation of the Super Eagles first training session in Calabar on Thursday.

The squad, complete with new arrival Joseph Yobo, were forced to abandon the session within half an hour following a generator malfunction.

Efforts to fix the problem ended with no success and the players were quickly ushered back into their team bus and ferried away.

Stadium officials declined comment on the exact nature of the problem with the generator, but promised that it would be fixed before the next training session.

Apiripah: 2010-09-03 07:20

I know that some people here will be reacting as if they havent seen a power outage before. It happens in every country. Here in U.S,The Atlanta Journal-Constitution wrote"About 4,000 homes and businesses were without power for a while Thursday night,Georgia Power spokesman Jeff Wilson said".So,is every where guys.

Saweb : 2010-09-03 08:33

Another excuss 4 eagles 2 fail. They should never tell nigerians dat dey never had enough time 2 train.

Niceguy: 2010-09-03 09:56

This Idiot called maigari have started dribbling Nigerians like his godfather lulu did, I think is time for Mr. President to call him to order and ask him where he is dribbling to. I think there most be secret behind the so called nff always denying Siasia what he merited, from lulu to maigari.

john: 2010-09-03 10:50

That's absolutely rubbish my guy. I don't know why delaying to appoint Siasia what he merited. Those ****ing politicians were just playing with what make all Nigerian happy and feel like one nation. It is a pity, is like to me fire on the mountain and no one near to rescue. GOD help us.

john: 2010-09-03 10:59

I said it before that it far better to ban Nigeria foot ball. If such thing don't happen i don't think Nigeria football can progress. Mr. President ban Nigeria football if you have no other solution to resolve this problem, let it be banned so that those criminals will eat their ****,this is a great mess, what a nonsense !!!!!!!!!!.

Blessme: 2010-09-03 12:20

@ Apiripah - I am surprise you treated this case as a normal thing that could happen in any civilized society. You did not tell us how long and the course of the power outage. I am very sure the course would be due to any form of storm or environmental disaster beyond their control, but in Nigeria it is negligence and corruption within our control. Why generators all the time? This is not normal my friend.

shola: 2010-09-03 13:25

Thanks @ blessme. When there is power outage in the US, it's always due to natural dissaster not negligence by irresponsible people like Nija leaders. [ i live in the US so i know]

Stephen Keshi
Austin Eguavoen
Samson Siasia

Honestly i like the way things are moving now,Please NFF people dont mine our comment here in this site because some people here are idiots.Exactly what happen to AMODU so many fans here say that AMODU must sack and bring a foreign coach at last what happen .Now they are saying that NFF should give SIASIA the job.Myself i love SIASIA but its not the right person for now.We have somebody like KESHI.These three coaches are good coach and I believe any of them can handle the job well But i support STEPHEN KESHI because he has coached two international countries and he has experience than other two.SIASIA coach under 17 and 20 but he has a long way to go for coaching and EGUAVOEN has a experience because he has be three assistance to foreign coaches,Please my people let us rethink and reason together as a human beings OK ,

collins2000: 2010-09-03 14:32

Nigeria jaga jaga,and u want 2host world cup?wen will all dis end?i lov 9ja

shola: 2010-09-03 14:47

Sarah Sarah Sarah, Keshi coached Nigeria before and he was sacked because he didn't really know what he was doing so also Ogun efon, now it's Sia sia time, if he did not perform, then we can move on but we'll give him some time to showcase what he's got.

Adams: 2010-09-03 17:46

Mr niceguy or whatever you called yourself, you are so primitive that you think it is only through insult you can send messages. maigari just came and should be given a chance to work. somebody must be there and it shouldn't always be who you want. even the Siasia that you want is not everybody's choice. he failled last year while handling the flying eagles in Egypt, so it's not a must that he should be given the appointment. all we need is somebody who will respect the nation, respect the game, respect the players, understand today's football and deliver the goods.

@footballogy, please grow up. Don't critise other people's level of education. Encourage them instead.

@ Oka:

Please choose another country and leave Nigeria alone. South Africa or Chad will gladly accept you. Goodbye OOO!!!

ace maxi : 2010-09-03 21:27

they don start, they are looking for excuses not to win the match@nice guy maigari is still d same as lulu dat foolish man will spoil nigerian football hausa no dey get sense,MALAM NA MALAM

ken gadaffi: 2010-09-04 05:50

Na wa for Nigeria o o o o. I have never seen any country with constant intterupted power supply like Nigeria. With the abundant wealth of resources available to us, Nigeria is still unable to generate enough power for the teeming population. This is really embarrasing.

ken gadaffi: 2010-09-04 05:57

@siemo, you cannot be part of something from the outside. You were duly invited to the group meetings just like others and I remember you atteding onceor twice. There is not problem about the legality of the group. We are concerned Nigerians who have come together to foster ways to help better Nigerian Football. We did contributed immensely towards most of the debates and positive results came forth.

We are not relenting despite seeing that the election was held even though we strongly called for a postponement. The shambles plaguing our football can only be brought to an end if we do something and not just talking. We need to be united in purpose to creat impacts or else the dooms day will continue for our football.

Niceguy: 2010-09-04 19:37

@speak out there is no doubt Siasia is the best local coach we have at the moment, he is the wright person for the SE job. Reasons: (1).About 80% of current SE players are his boys, (2).Currently, he is coaching in our local league so he knows our home base players very well (3). Must of our uncapped young stars have played under him before.(4).We have seen him as a coach in 2005 and 2008 what he is capable of doing, his style of play suit our National team. @Sarah who told you that Austin Eguavoen is a good coach? where were you when Austin Eguavoen lead our national team to a friendly match against Ghana in London which lost 4-1, you are still a young girl by your comment is very wrong for you to ask a man to shut up, you have to apologize to blessedone. Siasia is the best we have now every reasonable SE fan should support him for job, Siasia have what it takes to transform the SE.

murphy: 2010-09-05 17:17

Is only a fool we think Samson Siasia is not the right person to handle us?
