Super Eagles game moved from Abuja

Eagles game moved from Abuja

Posted: 2010-08-31 11:37

Nigeria's 2012 African Nations Cup qualifier against Madagascar has been moved away from Abuja.

NFF Media Officer Robinson Okosun explained that the National Stadium Abuja is hosting a youth Games, and the Glass House is now talking with the governments of Cross River and Kaduna States.

Pending the conclusion of those discussions, the game will take place at either the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar, or the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

“The U.J. Esuene Stadium for now looks favourite for the match because the Cross Rivers State Government has welcomed the NFF decision,” he said. “One thing is very certain here and that is the Super Eagles versus Madagascar match will not be played in Abuja.

“The federation has engaged in discussions with the governments of Cross River and Kaduna for a possible takeover of the match and one of the two states will definitely play host to the game on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, only 12 members of the Super Eagles commenced training yesterday in Abuja in preparation for the match. The NFF has given all the invited players today as dateline to report to camp for the match or risk being replaced

You know, the only question that remain unanswered in my mind is WHY IS ALL THESE NIGERIAN LEADERS DON'T HAVE ANY SHAME?

Nnaa.!: 2010-08-31 13:13

My question is, did the NFF not know about the youth games earlier on or most importantly, that they had a qualifying game this period? If they did, why did they not decide for the main venue or an alternative long before now? If only Mr. Okosun could help me clarify this. 5 days to an AFCON qualifier and the match venue is still being negotiated. May God help us.!

The usual antics resumed. The matches are up for grabs for state Governors who may like to use it to showcase their second term election campaigns. Its strictly on highest bidder basis. Federation cup was taken to Kano where the State government paid all the bills yet N45m was spent by NFF to host it. This is same people, little wonder they defied court orders to conduct elections. Nothing good will ever come out of the glass house. Same people, same ideas! same interest! May God help us.

i will say of the lord, he is our refuge and our fortress;surely he shall deliver us frm the hands of ppl in glass house. Amin.

Nigeria problem is so enormous that we cant finish talking about in a day. Imagine after the poor outing at the world cup we still have not learnt our lesson in that, most countries have assembled their players, we are still struggling with who is to course the team. Even Government too has their problem cos as long as the crambs of past executive dominant the affairs of the NFF, there wont the anything to show off. South Africa, Eygpt local league is well beemed for the public to see on their national television. How many times do me show the local league on the tv when most of our Governors, Administrators encourage the parnershing with EPL, La Liga and Serie A. As long as we recognise those league and promote the sells of their products here at home, it will take a long while to redeem the image of our league.

Whatever the new administration of NFF wants to show, all we ask is that Nigerians are tired of thieves, crooks and shameless adults who governed Nigerian football and even the entire Sport Ministries. Its high time we allow past atletes, Footballers etc to administer their various sport so we can have a new dawn.

cheers

Really nice of Danny ****tu, to come up with this idea. Enjoy!

Nigeria defender ****tu plans for Nigerian youngsters

Danny ****tu says he wants to give back to the Nigerian youth
Nigeria defender Daniel ****tu has set up a competition that will see one lucky Nigerian footballer win a year's contract with a top Belgian side.

The Soccer Star Project will consist of regional trials throughout Nigeria from which one winner will be chosen.

****tu, who is on the books of Bolton Wanderers in the English Premier League, says he wants Nigerian youngsters to fulfil their ambitions.

"I'm only interested in seeing people live their dreams," he told BBC Sport.

Open trials will be held in Enugu, Kano, Kaduna, Abuja and Lagos with ten players aged between 16-24 years chosen from each region.

The 50 young footballers will then head for a final round of trials in December from which one winner will emerge.

The lucky youngster will be given a one-year contract with Belgian first division side Royal Charleroi.

Two other players will win football scholarships to an American university.

According to ****tu, who was in the Nigerian team at the World Cup in South Africa, the idea stems from his desire to give something back to the Nigerian youth.

"Those of us that play for the national team are not necessarily the best players, we are just the lucky ones," ****tu said.

"I know how hard it is to earn a place in Europe and because of this many youngsters haven't had the opportunity to show [what they can do].

"I was rejected five times when I was growing up myself so I know how it feels.

"This is not like any other academy or game show, so only hard work and ability will influence the scouts," he continued.

****tu says he also hopes the trial will lead to more youngsters receiving educational scholarships.

"There is also an opportunity for some people to earn a four-year scholarship at an American university or college," ****tu said.

"Scouts will be coming from the USA for the final trial and if some fail to make the football grade then their educational intelligence could land them scholarships.

"We are not just looking at football ability but also at character, attitude and sound educational background."

Each of the top three players from the final trial will also get a cash prize of about $700.

The competition will run from October to December.

We have not learn from what happened to us in the 2006 worldcup qualifiers against Angola which was played in Kano. The super eagles managed to play a one-one draw against Angola when they (SE) needed a win to qualify. We get good results in Lagos and Port Harcourt.

I THINK MR. PRESIDENT'S OPINION TO BAN NIGERIA FOOTBALL WOULD HAVE BEEN FAR BETTER DECISION, BECAUSE SUCH A THING NEED TO HAPPEN BEFORE A DECENT CHANGE IN OUR FOOT BALL. THE WORST PART OF IT IS THAT THE POLITICIANS RUNNING OUR FOOTBALL. FANS HAVE TO ENDURE AND ACCEPT THE 2YRS BAN INSTEAD OF TOLERATING ALWAYS HEART BREAK.

Playing any of our national team's matches in Lagos is dangerous. Fans in Lagos are known to be fair weather ones. They easily switch support. They can not be counted upon to stay with the home team when things are not going well. Good decision to go somewhere else. But the question is this: Is the NFF just finding out that the Abuja stadium has been rented out for a Youth program. Shame on NFF.
