Nonkonyana takes the reins

Posted: 29 January 2010 Time: 11:58

Safa has appointed Vice-President Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana to be Acting President of the Association during President Kirsten Nematandani’s absence.

Nonkonyana will be in his acting position until Monday, February 1.

Nematandani is currently leading a Safa delegation to the 32nd Caf Congress that is taking place in Luanda today.

Other members of the delegation are CEO Leslie Sedibe, CEO of the World Cup 2010 Organising Committee Danny Jordaan, as well as Safa Vice President Mandla Mazibuko.

"This is very encouraging that the SAFA Leadership has been invited to this auspicious event. It is a clear signal which confirms our earlier meetings with CAF that they recognise our leadership.

"This is an indication that not only are we recognised locally, but also on the continent and should show all the sceptics that we are the legitimate leadership of South African football following the democratic elections on September 26, 2009," said Nonkonyana.

The Safa delegation will also have a chance to update the CAF Congress on South Africa’s state of readiness regarding the 2010 World Cup.

"The CAF Congress will focus on reports of the tournament among other things, as to what has transpired since the start. There will be reports from various committees and there should also be some condemnation of the recent terrorist attacks in Cabinda, Angola.

"But on the South African side, Dr Jordaan has been deployed to address the members and bring them up to speed with developments regarding preparations for the 2010 Fifa World Cup," added Nonkonyana.

The Safa delegation is also expected to watch the final of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations between Ghana and defending champions Egypt. The final will be played on Sunday in Luanda, Angola.

This old man is a "PUPPET" even today I still cnt believ he's an advocate. I mean he speaks limited English like Dali Mpofu,Makhenkesi Stofile.

For me as Im also frm EC(Mdantsane) I hav seen the FAILURES of Xhosa leaders in the former Homelands (Transkei nd Ciskei towns r non existant wth high levels of poverty).

These guys r highly INCOMPETENTS rely on "abalungu for thoughts".

Please SAFA we want former soccer players in there like Radebe,Fish,Bartlett,Maponyane etc...

Rugby is successful bcos of ex rgby players.

To soccer lovers these POLITICIANS r the main reason why soccer is DEAD IN SA!!!

After 2010 we knw Makhenkesi(shame Apartheid fuckd this old man's mind/mentally oppressed) is donating 2010 soccer venues to his rugby bosses i.e. Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium to WEAK Southern Kings. Greenpoint stadium (rugby man,Morne Du Plessis calls shots)is already under wing of "Stade de France" if how did this happen u tell me soccer fan????

Mbombela stadium might b going to Pumas, Sharks refused to use Moses Mabhida that was sold by our beloved ANC heads.

YOUNG PEOPLE OUR OLD PEOPLE LACK PLANNING!!!!Thats why the rugby guys r taking advantage of that, remember these ppl r products of "Bantu education".

If SAFA was under the eye of SOCCER PEOPLE WE WOULD HAVE A LEAGUE WITH 18 TEAMS AND STADIUMS ALL USED FOR SOCCERR WTH RUGBY acting as sub tenants allowed in soccer venues for big games.

MAKHEMNKESI,NONKONYANA UR FAILURES!!!!!

I SAFA was under the watchful eye of soccer people we were gonna see PSL going back to its glory days like in 1995.

16 teams have limited the selection of players for Bafana, things were better when we had a big pool of teams 18 even 20 teams.

MY PROPOSAL PSL AFTER 2010 WC.

PSL after 2010 can be designed in way that every province has a team and of course preserving the existing big teams. Provincial league wth no relegation but sacking of coaches nd players to Mvela could be better and big sponsors can come in big numbers in our soccer. Plus we can introduce television rights and marketing rights (international channels)where PSL can viewed all over Africa nd Europe,Asia. This can bring people to stadiums and attract a lot of MONEY.

Stadiums usage:

1. Soccer city (Chiefs)Gauteng
2. Orlando stadium(Pirates)Gauteng
3. Dobsonville (Swallows)Gauteng
4. Rand stadium (Cosmos)Gauteng
5. Superstadium (Supersport & Sundowns)Tshwane
6. Peter Mokaba stadium ()Limpopo
