No dagga at Orlando

No dagga at Orlando

Posted: 31 October 2009 Time: 10:45 am

The PSL has warned fans going to Orlando Stadium to watch the Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates against smoking dagga at the venue.

The smoking of dagga has been major concern during games around the country and the PSL has now made plans along with police to arrest any person found with the substance at the stadium.   PSL General Manager of Security Philip Masimong says they will continue with their work started last week during the MTN8 Final to arrest any person found smoking dagga at Orlando Stadium.   “Last week we arrested three people at the MTN8 Final. Not only did our security personnel act swiftly, but the fans who are fed up with this behavior alerted us to these offenders,” he says.   “We will be doing body searches as we do not want items such as guns, knives, glass bottles and other objects to be taken in to the stadium. So fans must come to enjoy themselves without wanting to harm others.”

Thats a gud move,n long overdue. Police must go to soccer venues to do their job,not to watch games. They shud also sit amongst the fans so as to quickly arrest offenders.

Thumps up for the bold move PSL.For the first time in many years I enjoyed a PSL match without a cloud of ganja around my head on Saturday night watching Platinum Stars and Swallows at Moruleng stadium. The atmosphere was a beautiful family evening and even my 5year old daughter enjoyed. It is one of the reasons why many people don't go to stadiums. It's a selfish thing for the smokers to disregard children and the elderly.Surely these guys don't smoke inside their living rooms while their kids are watching tv.
