Brazil international Dani Alves could reportedly face more than a decade in prison if found guilty of rape.

The 39-year-old is accused of raping a 23-year-old woman at Sutton nightclub in Barcelona on 30 December.

The fullback was apprehended by police last week and has since remained in custody, although he was moved from Brians 1 prison to Brians 2 for his safety.

Several people have come out in defence of the Selecao defender, including his ex-wife Dana Dinorah, while others have turned their back on him, with his most recent club UNAM Pumas terminating their contract with him after the allegations came to light.

With a new witness said to have come forward, it is now reported by Marca that Alves could spend a term stretching between four and 12 years in prison if found guilty of charges involving violent rape vaginally, anally, or orally.

The victim's lawyer, Ester Garcia Lopez, has revealed that her client is undergoing specialised treatment to deal with the trauma, as well as further medical treatment to prevent any sexually transmitted infections, with the footballer said to have not used protection during the incident.

"She is receiving psychological support through a public entity specialised in the treatment of victims of violence," Lopez told Brazilian outlet UOL.

"The hospital has sent her a complete treatment aimed at avoiding any type of infectious disease, since he did not use a condom.

"She also has a pharmacological treatment with anxiolytics to be able to sleep."

The FC Barcelona legend's brother Ney Alves, meanwhile, has since claimed that a "demonic conspiracy" is being waged against his brother.

"My brother fell into a trap," he told television programme Espejo Publico.

"My family is not going to give up. My brother has an unblemished career all over the world and this mess he's gotten himself into is sinking his career.

"We will definitely do everything possible to get my brother out of this demonic conspiracy that he got himself into.

"We are suffering a lot with all this, we are in a game of chess.

"I see dubious things that are not being done well.

"My parents and I want to travel to Spain."
