With crucial games coming up and the fight for second spot well and truly underway, Gavin Hunt risks having two of his trusted lieutenants unavailable against Kaizer Chiefs next weekend.

SuperSport United disappointingly lost the CAF Champions League spot to Orlando Pirates in the dying embers of last season, and with seven games remaining of the current campaign, are sat in fifth place, five points behind second-placed Stellenbosch FC.

They trail Orlando Pirates, who are in position three and have a 17:30 fixture against AmaZulu FC on Saturday, by two points.

That makes the match at home against Chippa United on Saturday evening a must-win affair if they are to remain on track in their pursuit of a runners-up finish, but there is the small matter of two key players who are walking a tightrope.

Both Grant Margeman and Sean Campbell are on three yellow cards each, one away from a one-match suspension. Should either or both get cautioned against the Chilli Boys, then they will miss the next match against Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday, 27 April.

The pair are among the best performers and are regulars for Matsatsantsa, and the situation presents Hunt with a challenge of whether to include them both in the line-up and hoping they will finish the 90 minutes without getting booked, or tweaking things with the Amakhosi fixture in mind.

Margeman is a hard grafter in the middle of the park for SuperSport, and has a point to prove after moving to the club permanently from Mamelodi Sundowns, where he failed to nail down a starting berth.

Meanwhile, Campbell has enjoyed a near-perfect debut season in the topflight having come through the club's junior ranks and is, according to some, a contender for PSL Young Player of the Season.

Having both unavailable against the Glamour Boys might be a prospect too ghastly to contemplate for the four-time league-winning coach, which presents him with a headache ahead of tonight's encounter.

Indications, though, are that both will be in the starting line-up at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.

Kick-off is at 20:00.
