Cape Town Spurs gave their survival hopes a boost with a 1-0 win over Royal AM at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Tuesday night.

Spurs coach Ernst Middendorp made a few changes from the loss to Polokwane City, as Katlego Maphathe, Gadiel Kamagi and Nkwali Siviwe returned to the starting line up.

Both sides came into the clash needing a win, as Spurs knew another loss would all but end their hopes of staying in the top-flight while the home side were aiming to move away from the relegation play-off spot.

The loss to Polokwane last weekend came as big disappoint for Spurs, who had secured a vital win over Richards Bay a few days before that and their fate in the top-flight is out of their hands.

Despite the permutations for both sides on the night, neither were able to find the breakthrough in the opening 45 minutes.

That all changed after the hour mark when the Urban Warriors were awarded a penalty for a foul in the box, which allowed Kamagi to step up and convert from 12 yards out for his second league goal.

The solitary strike from Kamagi was enough to hand the visitors maximum points on the night at Harry Gwala Stadium and keep their survival hopes alive for another week.

As a result, Spurs have moved five points behind 15th-placed Richards Bay who are in action on Wednesday night against Rise and Shine in Limpopo.

Confirmed line-ups:

Royal AM: Nyame, Matlaba, Manganyi, Mabuza, Masuku, Dlamini, Magaqa, Shezi, Maxwele, Cele, George
