Former Orlando Pirates defender and club captain Happy Jele has been spotted training with ambitious KwaZulu-Natal outfit Royal AM in a potential return to top-flight football.

Jele ended a 16-year stay with the Buccaneers at the start of the season, turning down an offer of a non-playing role as he looked to continue his playing career.

'Magents' was heavily linked with a switch to KwaZulu-Natal but the move later failed to materilaise.

However, sources at Royal AM have now confirmed that the 36-year-old centre back has begun training at Thwihli Thwahla and looks set to sign a deal as a free agent.

Jele's return also follows the return of former club head coach John Maduka, who held the first training session of his second tenure with Mam’mkhize’s chargers on Thursday.

The veteran defender will add some real steel to a Royal AM side that’s looked a shadow of it’s former self. Thwihli Thwahla are in position 12 on the DStv Premiership, with just one win from their last five outings.

Jele also did not let his time out of the game go to waste, the centre back completed his CAF C license as continues planning for life after retirement.

Meanwhile, information reaching this website suggests that Orlando Pirates have not closed the door on Jele’s return into a non-playing role, possibly his next stop after retirement.
