FIFA has again swung its whip towards the PSL, with another club handed a transfer ban.

The world governing body confirmed today that Richards Bay FC have been given a three-window transfer ban.

The sanction came into effect on Friday, April 12.

This is in relation to money matters relating to Kenyan footballer Ovella Ochieng, who spent six months at Richards Bay at the beginning of last year.

Ochieng arrived at the KZN club from Township Rollers, where he had moved after another similar case ended at FIFA following his exit from Marumo Gallants.

The 24-year-old left Marumo without playing after complications arose over his ITC from Swedish club Vasalunds IF.

He was only ever paid R5 000 at Marumo instead of the R30 000 that he had agreed on and then lodged an unfair dismissal case with FIFA, which he won.

Marumo ultimately paid him over half-a-million rands and avoided a transfer ban.

Ochieng – who played eight games for the KwaZulu-Natal outfit– has again taken a similar route to FIFA after Richards Bay failed to meet their contractual agreements with him.

After winning his case which was handled by sports lawyer Evert de Bruyn, the Kenyan was set to be paid his dues, but Richards Bay ignored the order and will now not be able to make any player registrations for three windows.

Richards Bay are not yet safe from the drop.

Royal AM is the other DStv Premiership still banned by FIFA for related issues involving Samir Nurkovic and Ricardo Nascimento, while BTM Sports, Free State Stars, Royal Eagles and Witbank Spurs are the other South African clubs listed as banned.
