Edmilson Dove was delighted to be back on the pitch as Kaizer Chiefs defeated Orlando Pirates on Saturday afternoon.

Dove missed Chiefs' 3-2 loss to Golden Arrows due to flu last weekend and returned to the team to stabilize the back-line and was named as the Man of the Match.

"Thank you very much, firstly I'd like to thank God for the gift of health, last week I could not be part of the group because I was sick but thankfully I'm here today," Dove said on SuperSport TV.

"It really feels good to be getting stuck in there with gents, this is for them as well, I mean it's a team effort congratulations to the whole team, we knew it was going to be a difficult game but we stuck to the plan and we got rewarded."

The Mozambican defender was asked what was key in their defensive display and said that they knew they had to deal with the wide and quick Pirates attackers.

"We knew that we had to deal with their wide players, you know (Monnapule) Saleng is fast, (Vincent) Pule was there, (Thembinkosi) Lorch and I guess what worked for us is keeping a compact back-line and making sure that we move on as a team."

The former Cape Town City versatile defender's cross in the dying minutes caused all sorts of problems as Olisa Ndah scored an own goal with a flick over goalkeeper Sipho Chaine and Dove added that he's grateful the ball went in.

"Now about the goal, I saw the run of my teammates and I was just trying to pick him and fortunately the ball went in, so glory to God," he concluded.
